The renovation work of the Waithou Canal, being undertaken by the Water Resources Department at the strong request of Hon’ble MLA of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency and CLP Leader, Manipur, Shri K. Meghachandra Singh, is progressing steadily.

Today, the ongoing work was inspected at the project site to assess its progress and ensure timely completion.

Upon completion, this important irrigation infrastructure will greatly benefit agricultural and fish farmers across approximately 4,000 paris of cultivable land covering Thoubal College Loukol, Thoubal Khunou Loukol, Thiyam Loukol, Haokha Loukol, Kiyam-Siphai Loukol, Kiyam-Tangjeng Loukol, and Waithou Loukol.

The renovation of the canal is expected to improve water management, enhance agricultural productivity, support fish farming activities, and strengthen the livelihood of thousands of farming families in the region.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY MESSAGE

On the occasion of World Environment Day, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all citizens.

Let us pledge to plant more trees, reduce plastic usage, conserve water, and promote eco-friendly practices in our daily lives. Small actions taken by each one of us can create a significant positive impact on our planet.

In observance of World Environment Day, a tree plantation programme was organized today at Eben Ching, Waithou, in collaboration with the 18 Clubs of Haokha Kiyam Shiphai–Waithou and officials of the Forest Department, Manipur. The programme reflects our shared commitment to environmental protection and a greener future.

On this special day, let us work together to build a cleaner, greener, and healthier world for all.
