The Department of History, Government Degree College Kupvi, organized a special programme on 4th October 2025 to celebrate International Non-Violence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event aimed to spread the timeless message of peace, love, and harmony as advocated by Mahatma Gandhi. The programme began at 11:30 a.m. with a warm welcome address by Pushplata, a student of B.A. 3rd Year, who greeted all the students and faculty members. Following this, Assistant Professor and Officiating Principal Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, Assistant Professor of Political Science Ms. Aruna Kumari, and SLA Mr. Prem Dipta offered floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, Assistant Professor of History, formally welcomed everyone and delivered an insightful address highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s life, philosophy, and the importance of adopting non-violence in today’s world. To mark the occasion, three competitions—Speech, Slogan Writing, and Poster Making—were organized to encourage student participation and creativity.
In the Speech Competition, Pushplata (B.A. 3rd Year) secured the first position, Sanjana Kumari (B.A. 3rd Year) stood second, and Bhumika (B.A. 1st Year) bagged the third position. In the Slogan Writing Competition, Anjali (B.A. 3rd Year) won first place, followed by Muskan (B.A. 3rd Year) in second and Pushplata (B.A. 3rd Year) in third. In the Poster Making Competition, Ritika (B.A. 1st Year) claimed the first position, Sunil Kumar (B.A. 3rd Year) secured second, and Shalu (B.A. 1st Year) got the third prize. The events were judged by Ms. Aruna Kumari and Mr. Prem Dipta, who appreciated the students’ creativity and enthusiasm.
The programme concluded with a message of peace and non-violence, inspiring students to follow Gandhian values in their daily lives. The celebration truly reflected the spirit of unity, compassion, and humanity that Mahat
