On 14 November 2025, a lecture related to various scholarship schemes was organized at Government Degree College, Kupvi. On this occasion, Ms. Amrita Singh, Assistant Professor of Hindi, provided comprehensive information to the students about different scholarship schemes available for them.
During the lecture, students were informed about scholarships offered by both the State Government and the Central Government, along with their eligibility criteria and benefits. The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students.
At the end of the lecture, the Officiating Principal of the college, Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, extended his best wishes to all the students.

A special awareness programme was organized at Government Degree College Kupvi on 8th December 2025 by the Road Safety Club and the Anti-Drug Cell in collaboration with the Police Department, Kupvi. The event aimed to spread awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of road safety.
For this programme, ASI Shri Sant Ram and Constable Sakshi Chauhan from the Police Department, Kupvi were present as the keynote speakers.
In the first session, ASI Shri Sant Ram addressed the students and provided important information about the ill effects of drug addiction. He highlighted how drug abuse, especially the menace of chitta, is destroying the youth and explained various steps taken by the Government and the Police Department to eliminate this problem from Himachal Pradesh. He urged all students to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a healthy society.
In the second session, Constable Sakshi Chauhan delivered a detailed lecture on Road Safety. She explained essential road safety rules, preventive measures, and responsible behaviour while using roads. Her session emphasized the importance of awareness and discipline for reducing road accidents.
At the end of the programme, the Officiating Principal, Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, thanked the resource persons for their valuable guidance and motivated the students to stay away from drugs and follow road safety norms sincerely.
The programme was attended by Prof. Amrita Singh, Prof. Aruna Kumari, and SLA Prem Singh.
After the lectures, the students of the college also organized an Awareness Rally from Kupvi Upper Market to Lower Market to spread messages about anti-drug awareness and road safety among the local community.

A special lecture was organised at Government Degree College, Kupvi on 05 December 2025 in collaboration with Himachal Pradesh State Co-operative Bank, Kupvi. Mr. Virender Sharma from the bank addressed the students and delivered highly informative content related to Cyber Security, Online Fraud, KYC and other important banking issues.
The lecture commenced at 11:30 AM. During the session, Mr. Sharma explained the rising concerns related to digital transactions, possible risks involved and preventive measures to avoid online frauds. Students were also informed about various updated banking procedures and essential precautionary steps to be followed while using online banking services.
After the session, students interacted with the resource person and asked several queries which were responded to effectively by Mr. Sharma.
At the end, the Officiating Principal, Dr. Dev Raj Sharma, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Virender Sharma and advised all students to follow the suggestions shared during the lecture in their daily banking activities.
Overall, the session proved to be highly informative, beneficial and awareness-oriented for the students of the college.

A Career Counselling Workshop was conducted on 22 November 2025 at Government College Kupvi by Crack Academy. The session was led by Ms. Usha Negi from Crack Academy.
During the workshop, Ms. Negi provided comprehensive guidance to the students on various career opportunities, competitive examinations, essential academic skills, time-management, and effective preparation strategies. She also addressed the queries of students and motivated them to set clear academic and career goals.
Following the counselling session, the results of the “Mere Shehr ke 100 Ratan Scholarship Test” organised by Crack Academy were declared. The students who performed exceptionally well in the test were awarded scholarship certificates.
The certificates were distributed by the Officiating Principal, Shri Dev Raj Sharma, who congratulated the meritorious students and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.
The programme proved highly informative and beneficial for the students. The college administration expressed gratitude to Crack Academy for organising such a productive and student-oriented event.

On 21 November 2025, a meeting was held at Government Degree College Kupvi for the formation of a new Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. H. L. Sharma. In this meeting, the previous PTA executive body was dissolved and a new body was constituted, in which Sh. Rajender Sharma was unanimously elected as PTA President, Sh. Parmanand as Vice President, Prof. Amrita Singh as PTA Secretary, Sh. Kedar Singh as Joint Secretary, Sh. Chhaju Ram as Treasurer and Sh. Manohar Singh as Advisor, along with six other members. On this occasion, Principal Dr. H. L. Sharma, while extending hearty congratulations to all the newly elected members, guided the PTA about the vision and future plans of the college, informed them about various issues and challenges being faced by the institution, and it was collectively resolved to work together in close coordination to address and resolve these problems in the best interest of the students and the overall development of the college.

On 12 November 2025, a lecture on career options was organized at Govt. Degree College Kupvi under the banner of the Career Counseling and Guidance Cell. The objective of the programme was to provide students with proper guidance regarding various career paths and emerging opportunities in different fields.

The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor of Political Science, Ms. Aruna Kumari. In her address, she shared important information about diverse career options available to students after graduation and higher studies. She also informed the students about the scope of employment in different sectors, emerging avenues in government and private jobs, and the importance of skill development, competitive examinations and higher education for building a successful career.

Students listened to the lecture with keen interest and actively engaged with the ideas shared. They gained useful and practical guidance for their future, which will help them in making informed decisions about their careers.

On 13th October 2025, an Oath-Taking Ceremony of the College Students’ Central Association (CSCA) was organized at Government Degree College, Kupvi with great enthusiasm. The ceremony commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the worship of Goddess Saraswati followed by a Saraswati Vandana.

The Officiating Principal, Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, administered the oath to all the elected members of the CSCA. The newly elected office bearers were as follows:

President: Pushplata

Vice President: Sanjana

Secretary: Priya

Joint Secretary: Nitika

In addition to the office bearers, all Class Representatives and Club Members were also administered the oath. The stage was efficiently conducted by Prof. Aruna Kumari.

After the oath ceremony, Officiating Principal Mr. Dev Raj Sharma addressed the gathering and guided all the newly elected representatives regarding their roles, duties, and responsibilities towards the college.

A Scholarship Test, under the Himachal Government and Crack Academy Initiative, was successfully conducted at Government Degree College, Kupvi on 9th October 2025. The test commenced at 12:00 noon and concluded at 1:00 p.m.

A total of 37 students from the college actively participated in the examination with great enthusiasm. The objective of this test was to identify talented students and provide them with scholarship opportunities for competitive examinations and skill development courses.

The test was conducted smoothly and in a fair manner under proper supervision. The participation of students reflected their keen interest in academic and career advancement.

The Department of History, Government Degree College Kupvi, organized a special programme on 4th October 2025 to celebrate International Non-Violence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event aimed to spread the timeless message of peace, love, and harmony as advocated by Mahatma Gandhi. The programme began at 11:30 a.m. with a warm welcome address by Pushplata, a student of B.A. 3rd Year, who greeted all the students and faculty members. Following this, Assistant Professor and Officiating Principal Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, Assistant Professor of Political Science Ms. Aruna Kumari, and SLA Mr. Prem Dipta offered floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mr. Dev Raj Sharma, Assistant Professor of History, formally welcomed everyone and delivered an insightful address highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s life, philosophy, and the importance of adopting non-violence in today’s world. To mark the occasion, three competitions—Speech, Slogan Writing, and Poster Making—were organized to encourage student participation and creativity.

In the Speech Competition, Pushplata (B.A. 3rd Year) secured the first position, Sanjana Kumari (B.A. 3rd Year) stood second, and Bhumika (B.A. 1st Year) bagged the third position. In the Slogan Writing Competition, Anjali (B.A. 3rd Year) won first place, followed by Muskan (B.A. 3rd Year) in second and Pushplata (B.A. 3rd Year) in third. On 29th July 2025, the ECO Club of Government Degree College Kupvi, District Shimla, in collaboration with the Forest Department Kupvi, organized a plantation drive under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” in the Kupvi area.

The event commenced in the college campus where Prof. Devraj Sharma, Convener of the ECO Club, addressed the students and raised awareness about the importance of plantation for environmental conservation. He highlighted how tree plantation contributes to maintaining ecological balance and supports life on earth.

Following this, Pushplata, a student of B.A. 3rd Year, delivered a detailed talk on the significance of protecting the environment and the long-term benefits of afforestation for the community and future generations.

After the awareness session, the members of the ECO Club organized an awareness rally in the Kupvi market to educate the local community about environmental protection and encourage active participation in plantation activities.

Subsequently, the plantation drive was carried out at Juinal, a site falling under Kanda Bnah Forest Range of Chopal Forest Division. Various saplings were planted under the guidance of Forest Department officials.

A total of 35 students from GDC Kupvi actively participated in the event, along with faculty members Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar and Prof. Aruna Kumari, who motivated and supported the participants throughout the campaign.

The event concluded with a collective message that every tree planted is a step towards a greener and healthier future, and such initiatives should be continued regularly to protect the environment.

Induction Programme at GDC Kupvi:

Induction Programme for the newly admitted First-Year students of GDC Kupvi was organized on 30th June 2025 in College Hall-2. The programme aimed to welcome and familiarize students with the academic environment of the college.

The session was presided over by Officiating Principal Mr. Dev Raj, who addressed the students and emphasized the importance of discipline, regular attendance, and sincere participation in academic activities. He introduced the students to the college’s vision, infrastructure, and the various undergraduate courses offered. He also highlighted the academic framework under the CBCS system.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and best wishes for the students’ academic journey. The session ended on a positive and motivational note, leaving students inspired and well-oriented for the new beginning.
