IHM Shillong hosted the State Level Observance of World Bamboo Day 2026, bringing together stakeholders to recognise the importance and potential of bamboo as a climate-resilient resource for Meghalaya.

The observance offered an opportunity to reflect on the role of bamboo in supporting environmental sustainability while highlighting the value of one of the region’s important natural resources.

Day 1 of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 began with a fruit tree plantation drive in collaboration with Taj Vivanta, Shillong.

The initiative marks the beginning of the observance from 16 September to 30 September 2026, with fruit trees being donated by Taj Vivanta, Shillong as part of the drive.

A simple step towards encouraging environmental awareness and a greener surrounding. 🌱

Meet Rosalba Liza Warjri, an IHM Shillong alumni from the 2022–25 batch, who has taken her passion for hospitality forward by starting her own café, WKND (Eats & Brew).

Exploring the Potential of Jackfruit. 🌱

The three-day training gave participants an opportunity to understand how jackfruit can be used beyond its traditional applications, with a focus on value addition and developing jackfruit-based products.

Through practical learning and discussions, the participants gained a better understanding of how local produce can be developed into products with potential for entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.
