RADS India

RADS India RADS India is an NGO committed to Rural Development and is based in Talupula Mandal, Kadiri Taluk, Anantpur District, Andhra Pradesh. What is the significance?

Here are few of the activities and projects taken up by RADS India since its inception apart from the Save Water Camapign.

1) Community Projects

A minor dam was built across the river in Kummara Palli, Kalakada Mandal, Chittoor District. India is prone to silting every year. Since 2005, RADS has undertaken the task of cleaning the dam during the dry season in the months of March, April and May b

y collecting the silt on the river bed. For this, RADS hires tractors and manpower in cleaning the river. This annual activity of the RADS not only helps in maintaining a silt-free dam but also generates temporary employment for about 50 locals. The collected silt from the dam is used as manure for fields and orchards.

2) Religious Festivals and Rituals

RADS organized a ‘Devara Yeddu’ also called ‘Devara Yeddu Velppu’ fair in 2008 which is a custom among the farming community in the rural areas of Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh. It is about a releasing an ox into the fields to graze in the fields without restrictions. Hundreds of people attended on this occasion in a village in the Chittoor district. What will happen to the ox? Contact us and we shall let you know.

3) Science and Technology

RADS has organized a Science Mela and a Field Trip for Children under the guidance and the financial support of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India who were kind enough to give us a grant of Rs. 10,000

4) Culture and Folklore

RADS whole-heartedly supports local artists and plays an active role in the promotion of arts which represent rural culture and vibrant folklore. Small examples of our work is that of Sankara and Hari Kathas. (i) Sankara cannot see but he can transport an audience into another world with the touch of his dexterous fingers on the piano. RADS organized a music festival in the villages wherein he enthralled the audience with his music. (ii) Burra katha and Hari katha are popular folk arts in the rural areas. The artists, masters in the age-old art form, enthralled the audience during the event conducted by RADS. Watch the video of Sasavula Chinnamma Katha posted on the Timeline, a playful rift between Vishnu and Shiva devotees, finally a Shaivite devotee marries a Vaishnava.

5) Preserving Ancient Buildings

Ancient architecture either disappeared or disappearing. RADS has identified Obuleswari temple on a hillock in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh that has been in a very bad shape. It is supporting the local people involved in preserving and renovating the temple.

I humbly request you all to kindly visit Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Sri Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi. One must visit this sacred place to truly understand and experience his great services to humanity. It inspires everyone to live by the eternal message: “Love All, Serve All.”

The pictures shared below are from a location about 15 kilometers from Puttaparthi, close to the forest area, where my cows are currently being nurtured. You can witness the natural beauty of this region—birds, lakes, and serene surroundings—which are part of my newly discovered and ongoing project.

I am in the process of establishing a Cow Breeding Farm at Amagonda Palem, focusing on the conservation and development of native and indigenous breeds such as Punganur, Gir, Sahiwal, and other local Indian cow breeds. This initiative aims to promote sustainable farming, protect native cattle breeds, and live in harmony with nature. Will privide giu accomdatiin and Transport to visit our farm as courtesy from RADS . From Bandapalli MadanaMohan Reddy , President of Rural Agricultural Development Society. 9810460705

Though normally positioned differently in the food chain, this natural disaster revealed something beyond instinct. In the face of danger, these two wild animals displayed a remarkable and unexpected level of compassion and humanity.

Watch the full footage of the Sumatran elephant’s heroic act of saving the tiger amid the flash floods.
