World Telecom Day - 2026 is Celebrated every year on 17 May, World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) highlights the growing role of digital technologies in our lives and commemorates the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – the United Nations Agency for Digital Technologies.
The theme for WTISD 2026 is "Digital lifelines: Strengthening resilience in a connected world".
In a world that increasingly depends on uninterrupted connectivity, the resilience of our digital networks is essential. Digital lifelines – terrestrial networks, submarine cables, satellites, and data systems – form the backbone of our communities and economies. WTISD 2026 calls on governments, industry, and communities to strengthen the digital lifelines that keep the world running.
Pune Hams VU2RCP in association with IEI, IETE, IEEE, IET has celebrated World Telecom Day on 23rd May 2026 at Firodia Auditorium, Institution of Engineers Pune.
*Mr Radheshyam Parmar, Special Deputy Director General, DoT Maharashtra state who was Theme Speaker & Chief Guest on the occasion spoke on strengthening connectivity of Telecom Network and various initiatives of DoT on Citizen centric services like Sanchar Saathi portal etc.*
Guest of Honour Mr Ujwal Gulhane DDG (Technology) DoT MH spoke on resilience and diversity of Telecom Network in Indian context.
