Aagla-wegla is a Solid Waste Management campaign that aims at promoting the habit of Segregation at Source amongst the citizens of Pune. Its objective is to reduce dumping of solid waste gradually and achieve zero dumping in a period of – years. The campaign is initiated and implemented by Janwani, a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) wing of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce (MCCIA), Pune. The NGO h

as collaborated with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the NGO SWACH for Aagla-Wegla. Creating door-to-door awareness through its -- volunteers, strategising on different methodologies for awareness and implementation and monitoring waste collection are the organisation’s primary functions in this campaign. Janwani ran a pilot Zero Garbage Project in 2011 in Katraj to free the area of chronic dumping spots. Aagla-Wegla will take this initiative on a city-wide level. An important derivative of the campaign is also to recycle the segregated waste.

What if the way we think about plastic waste is actually making the problem worse?

From believing recycling fixes everything to trusting “biodegradable” labels… these myths keep us stuck. The reality is more uncomfortable—but also more empowering.

Because real change doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from small, consistent choices that add up over time. ♻️

Start simple: refuse what you don’t need, reuse what you can, and rethink what you buy.

Which myth surprised you the most? Drop it in the comments 👇

Your old phone has gold in it. Literally. 💛

Smartphones contain gold, silver, copper, and rare earth metals — materials that can be recovered and reused.

When you toss it in the bin, you're not throwing away trash. You're throwing away resources.

Give it a better ending.

📦 Hand over your old phones, laptops, and gadgets to Janwani's e-waste collection.

That tiny triangle on your plastic?

It's not just a logo. It's a code. 🔺

Numbers 1 to 7 — each one tells you how safe the plastic is, whether it can be recycled, and whether it belongs in your bin or your e-waste bag.

Most people have never looked twice at it.

Now you will.

📌 Save this post as your quick reference guide. And next time you pick up a plastic product — flip it over

plastic straw you used for 10 minutes? It'll outlive you by 200 years.

Some of the things we throw away are never really "gone" — they just change location. Landfills. Oceans. Food chains. Your body.

Watch this and rethink what you toss.

Share this with someone who still uses single-use plastic
