76TH VAN MAHOTSAV 2025 CELEBRATION AT HAOREIBI, IMPHAL WEST, MANIPUR
The Central Forest Divisional, Forest Department, Manipur, and Nature Club, Haoreibi, organized a joint awareness cm tree plantation program as part of the 76th Van Mahotsav 2025 Festival of Forests on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Haoreibi, Imphal West District, Manipur. This event aligns with the national theme "EK PED MAA KA NAAM-2.0" -(Lend hand to make our Manipur Greener), encouraging citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers while promoting environmental conservation.
The program included a tree plantation drive where participants enthusiastically planted various tree species, including ornamental trees, in Haoreibi Awang Leikai Pukhrichou Mapal. Speakers from the Forest Department staff, Leimapokpam Sanju Singh, Nature Club Advisor Yendrembam Jiten Meitei, Haoreibi Meira-Paibi President Sharungbam Maipakpi Devi, and Nature Club President Sharungbam Ruhikumar Singh, discussed topics such as tree plantation, eco-club awareness, and community engagement on environmental issues, emphasizing the importance of collective action in protecting the environment.
Young Green Warriors of Nature Club shared insights on environmental policies and the need for their effective implementation to protect Manipur's natural resources. Nature Club presented a resolution requesting the government to enact the "Law for the Protection of Trees in Manipur," highlighting the importance of safeguarding trees for future generations. Nature Club will seek cooperation from all stakeholders for the enactment of the said Tree Protection Law for the benefit of the state and to save the environment. A memorandum was submitted to the government (vide Ref No. NC/2023/Env./02 Imphal dated 27/01/2023).
