One of the most controversial social evils in Indian society - Child Labour, still exists in many areas, from cotton seed farms to mining, owning street shops to polishing shoes. Children under 14 work in hazardous areas instead of studying or leading a healthy adolescent life. to law Child labour is legit in many areas, which also leads to the issue of illegal child trafficking. isory Council (NAC) finalized the recommended changes to be made to the Child Labour Act on 21st Oct.'11 (Friday) with a strong endorsement from Ms.Sonia Gandhi. It will now be sent to the government for action. Can we put enough pressure on the Union Cabinet Minister, Labour & Employment to honour the demands made by National Advisory Council and impose a nationwide ban on employment of children under 14? Can India finally be Child labour free? should impose a blanket ban on child labour below 14 years - a difficult task to carry out in view of the massive underage workforce but a significant step in the direction of pushing children towards education.
