🌱 Plantation Drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

On the occasion of the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, ICAR–National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (ICAR-NBSS&LUP), Nagpur organized a plantation drive under the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.

The programme was inaugurated with the planting of a sapling by the Director, ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur, followed by enthusiastic participation from the staff members of the Institute. The event reflected the Institute's commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable development, and the promotion of a greener future.

The plantation drive reaffirmed the collective resolve of the ICAR-NBSS&LUP family to contribute towards ecological sustainability while commemorating the 98th Foundation Day of ICAR.

A Proud Milestone for ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur
We are delighted to share a significant achievement of ICAR–National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (ICAR-NBSS&LUP), Nagpur.
On the occasion of the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, the Digital Soil Texture Map of India was officially released.
Developed using a Digital Soil Mapping (DSM) approach, the dataset is based on 14,888 georeferenced soil observations collected across the country. The maps provide 90 m spatial resolution information on sand, silt, and clay content for six standard soil depths, along with the corresponding soil textural class maps.
This high-resolution national soil information product will serve as a valuable resource for:
• Land resource assessment
• Precision agriculture
• Water resource management
• Environmental modelling
• Sustainable land use planning
The release of this landmark dataset marks an important step towards strengthening evidence-based decision-making for sustainable agricultural development and natural resource management in India.
Congratulations to the entire team of ICAR-NBSS&LUP for this remarkable achievement and contribution to the nation's soil information infrastructure.
