Walking into the cafe with hesitant strides, each step she took sounded the echoes of her clicking heels and instiled in her a tiny bit of reassurance. She sat at her table that overlooked oncoming traffic, rethinking her decision of a spontaneous rendezvous with an acquaintance from her soon to be college.
To her, this was more nerve-wracking than a blind date. This meeting could significantly impact the next three years of her academia.
She glanced at the time, 6:15, her brightened screen read. She unlocked her phone and texted her friend.
"Hey, where are you?"

On a sunny valentine’s day afternoon, after a tiresome day of bending backwards for her obnoxious boss, Radha left work to get lunch with her boyfriend. To most this sounds like a relief after a stressful day of work, spending time with a loved one. But Radha preferred the torment at work over the inner turmoil that her feelings towards Raj would stir up. Confusion, pain… it wasn’t just emotional, she could physically feel her hurt break every time she met him. She could feel the distance between them increasing. Every conversation they had seemed foreign, every touch felt unknown. She loved him but she didn’t know if that was enough.

They ordered a plate of pani puri, something they'd share on their never-ending dates. A shy smile spread across her face as she remembered how they would fight over the last puri and giggle at each other's stuffed mouths. Those were good times.

Take of the chocolate chip cookies

The sky was perfumed with cotton candy clouds and the blazing midday sun bathed us in heat and anticipation.

Riya and I used to be the best of friends. The type that was always with each other, the type that spent hours together and would go home to spend hours talking on the phone, the type that told each other everything, the type that was like family. Up until college started. It happened a little too fast for either of us to realize, but our friendship had started to fizzle. A bitter concoction of work, the pressure of fitting into a new environment and making new friends had dissolved our once flourishing friendship.

The tale of Emack and Bolio’s

The hours ticked as he sat by the pavement, watching a flock of pigeons looking at him questioningly. Even the birds seemed so unwelcoming in this god forsaken city. He jumped up in a sudden fit of rage, storming into an ice cream parlour. Emack and Bolio’s read the signage. Some ice cream would help, like it always did. He found his eyes moisten a little as he walked in. He didn’t know the language nor did he understand the roads.

The tale of the chamomile tea

The sea was kindling its own symphony as the clouds floated across the sky to its beautiful ebb and flow. Watching this, pensively sat Tiara. She sipped her warm tea slowly. The tea bag dwindled as the cold wind blew. Tiara held on to her cup for warmth, her glassy eyes held a sort of longing and a smile crept onto her face. To any onlooker, it may have looked bizarre, but if you could take a peek into the surge of thoughts that flooded her mind, you'd feel at peace amid that storm, just like she did.
