Trilogy Library and Bookstore Trilogy is an award-winning, independent, curated bookshop and library in Bandra, run by Ahalya and Meethil Momaya. Yes, we love being readers.

In August 2019, we moved from Lower Parel to our little yellow home by the sea, in Chimbai Village, Bandra. The Eternal Library (TEL) is founded by Ahalya and Meethil Momaya. We’re avid readers, and we are absolutely certain we got married only after our own bookshelves merged. It seemed inevitable somehow once David Attenborough and Terry Pratchett sat together side by side, and when Alexander Mc

Call Smith and Ansel Adams exchanged bookshelves, we decided to tie the knot too. We are passionate about books, reading, bookstores, libraries, publishing, writing, and generally try to be very devout bibliophiles. How did we end up loving books and reading so much? As with every other deep passion, it’s a love affair that began when we were yay high. The parents and grandparents, avid readers themselves, nudged us pretty firmly towards a reading habit. Our teachers seemed to recognise the fledgling bookworms in us, and gave us plenty to munch on. Add to the mix a benign librarian, friends who still turn up with books and bookstore vouchers on birthdays, and our own long-winded relationship with the written word and we can’t exactly say when books became more important to us than a night out, a movie, the latest in bling, or lycra hotpants. Once we lost ourselves in books, life was never the same again. We spend meal times reading books, analysing reading trends, decoding writing styles, and being extremely judgmental about movies based on books. But we love even more knowing that we can share our reading experiences and let everyone know about the authors we find and new good bookstores (which we ruefully find are getting fewer by the day), and run libraries so books find their readers.

Eleven years!!! (Slightly) more than a decade!!! I still don't have enough words to thank the universe for this immense blessing, for allowing us this privilege of spending our days with books, for sending only the best people our way, to be able to look around us and see nothing but love and kindness.
We started Trilogy to share this abundance of quiet wisdom, to welcome people who were looking to read deeper and what a wonderful journey it has been.
We have made friends for life, found more love than we ever dared to hope for and we are so grateful for everyone who has made the time to visit, to browse, and make this the haven that it is for all of us.
Here's to stepping into Year 12 with all of you.

What a sweet little book! It will take us all a while to truly appreciate what a precious gem Pudding is. But that's why it's called Pudding I guess, the sweet wholesome taste lingers long after the last spoonful is licked clean. Shormishtha of fame has very cleverly and with great love fashioned the most delectable memorable and giftable book with this tribute to Bandra, full of the simple, happy memories that continue to endow Bandra with its unique warm glow. And Shormishtha promises there are more books to come.
has done a beautiful job designing this book, it's a masterclass in putting together a collection of stories remembered by a tightly knit community.

I think I loved everything about today. The men in their kurtas browsing seriously, the kids showing off to their cousins - their hair ribbons and the library (in that order), the friends, aunts, brothers and sisters, browsing to find books that match their siblings, nephews, and nieces (and some for themselves). Meethil wrapping books, me trying to send off parcels via delivery while finding books for someone. It all felt very festive! Thank you Reader, wherever you are. For being the kind of person who even thinks about finding gifts, for spending time matching book to reader. How lucky is that recipient!!!
Also, I realised, I really suck at taking pics through the day, so I have been sliding on my promise (who is surprised??) about sharing highlights of our day, but look! I salvaged this pic! It was meant to be a bunch of books for Mr. R's sister, the final selection looked a little different (he added a Mina Lima!!) and we absolutely didn't take a pic of the books we wrapped up and sent off, but you get the idea. I'm so thrilled Ms. S will be getting a box of books tonight chosen for her with so much love. Sigh. Today was warmth.

Hello, hello! It's been a looong and busy week with longlists and shortlists and rainy day reading lists swirling around, but nothing matches the excitement that greeted the announcement of THIS book! We sent the message out to our members and patrons a few days ago, and the phone wouldn't stop pinging! (We stayed over late printing orders that night 🥲🥲🥲)

While this is an absolutely precious gift, what could be more precious than the readers who took our story all the way across the ocean, to another continent, into the hallowed space that is the most loved and respected bookshop -- and brought back a signed copy? Our Story

The Eternal Library (TEL) is founded by Ahalya and Meethil Momaya. We’re avid readers, and we are absolutely certain we got married only after our own bookshelves merged. It seemed inevitable somehow once David Attenborough and Terry Pratchett sat together side by side, and when Alexander McCall Smith and Ansel Adams exchanged bookshelves, we decided to tie the knot too. We are passionate about books, reading, bookstores, libraries, publishing, writing, and generally try to be very devout bibliophiles. Yes, we love being readers. But we love even more knowing that we can share our love for reading with fellow bibliophiles.

It’s been five years now, since we started Trilogy and we are proud of our dream come true. We’re chuffed to bring together great authors and the readers who love them, we’re over the moon that we’ve met publishers we greatly admire, and we’re overwhelmed with all the love that’s come our way. We’ve watched little kids take their first steps towards reading, and when our members, who live in this city far away from home drag their folks here so they can see where they spend their weekends, we’re honoured to be part of their lives!

We believe in the power of stories and the immense value of a warm place that welcomes you to expand your reading horizon.
