Meghalaya hosted a pivotal one-day Regional Conference on Natural Farming at MAMETI, Upper Shillong. The event was organized by the Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Regional Centre for Organic & Natural Farming (RCONF), Imphal, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Natural and Organic Farming Society for Livelihood and Innovation in Agriculture (MEGNOLIA).
Smti. Bansara Mylliemnagap, Director, Directorate of Horticulture, Meghalaya, in her keynote address, emphasized the state’s natural advantage in organic farming, stating that traditional practices support soil health, lower costs, and better market returns for farmers.
The day concluded with an interactive panel discussion, moderated by Shri C.S. Shabong, Director of Agriculture (RTTI), Meghalaya, focusing on natural farming methods, challenges, opportunities, and implementation strategies, while farmers from various districts were also honoured with the ‘Best Farmer Award’ for their exemplary efforts.
