5 Reforms to Fix Indian Politics

Part 3 - Professional Offices, Fewer Allowances & Career Protection

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ **80 years after Independence, maybe it's time to professionalise the way our politicians work.**

Whether it's a **Corporator, MLA or MP**, elected representatives should have a professional office with full-time government-paid staff.

And instead of multiple allowances for travel, telephone, electricity and other expenses:

**Give them a transparent salary + a publicly audited office budget.**

Less confusion.
Less scope for misuse.
More transparency.
More accountability.

We should also think about what happens when capable professionals **lose an election** โ€” and provide limited transition support, career counselling and upskilling.

Because if we want better people to enter politics, **we need to make politics a viable professional career.**

5 Reforms to Fix Indian Politics (Part 2 - Pay Politician Like Professionals)

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ **On Indiaโ€™s 80th Independence Day, letโ€™s ask an uncomfortable question:**

**Should politicians in India be paid MORE?**

A senior corporate professional can earn โ‚น30 lakh, โ‚น50 lakh, โ‚น1 crore or more.

Yet elected representatives responsible for millions of citizens, public infrastructure and huge government budgets often earn significantly less.

If politics is a **full-time profession**, shouldn't it offer professional-level compensation too?

Higher, transparent salaries could help:

โ†’ Attract better talent
โ†’ Make politics a viable career
โ†’ Reduce dependence on other income
โ†’ Increase accountability

**Pay more. Demand more. Expect better governance.**

Happy Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

5 Reforms to Fix Indian Politics

Part 1 - Make Politics a Full-time Profession

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ **80 years of Independence. Is our politics ready for its next reform?**

MPs, MLAs and Municipal Councillors have a full-time responsibility towards citizens โ€” so why should politics not be treated as a full-time profession?

Fiirst reform: **Make public representation a full-time career.**

No active private businesses, consulting, professional practice or directorships after getting elected.

But if we expect politicians to dedicate themselves entirely to public service, **we also need to pay them like professionals.**

Because better governance starts with making politics a serious, accountable and professional career.

**Happy Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ**

What do you think โ€” should elected representatives be full-time public professionals?
