Mathilakam Mathilakam’ which is a part of the long coastal area of Kerala – ‘The God’s Own Country’ has an important role in our history.

It shares with us a lot of interesting stories starting from the auspicious arrival of ‘Ilamgo vadikal’ to the unforgettable invasion of ‘Tippu Sulthan’
Mathilakam is famous by different names such as ‘Kanavayikottam’, ‘Thrikkanamathilakam’, and ‘Pappinivattam’. Kanavayikottam indicates its relation with ‘Jainism’. In the literary works of ‘Sankha Period’ , it is known as ‘Thrikkanavaykottam’. The

rulers of this land wished to build seven walls around this land but due to the opposition of the people of Irinjalakuda, their dream didn’t fulfill. However due to this attempt this place got a new name ‘Thrikkanamathilakam’.
