A 1998 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma has wide and diverse experience in managing various aspects of Railroad operations and maintenance. Dr. Sharma is known for a strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and passion for modernizing and improving the railway system for the benefit of the public. He has handled multiple roles dealing wi

th technology-driven changes, digitization of asset maintenance and freight management activities, disaster risks, capacity building for strategic management, and reconfiguring the existing workflows with efficiency and effectiveness considerations. He had creatively contributed towards unlocking the freight performance improvement potential through several innovative measures, viz. proliferating higher axle load (25T Axle load) freight operations by using existing BOXNHL fleet, rationalizing maintenance patterns, twinning of maintenance depots and long-haul rakes formation. He was conferred with a National award for outstanding contribution in 2013 by the Ministry of Railways. Dr. Sharma is Executive Director/QA (Mechanical) in the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), Kolkata. He has been assigned additional charge of Director (Production) of Braithwaite & Company Limited (BCL) for one year with effect from October 31, 2023. Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma is also actively associated with various literary-social organizations & aspires to bring positive change in society. In 2022, the Hindi poetry collection 'Had Ya Anhad' and in 2023, the book 'Udyog 4.0’. His research interest focuses on risk analysis and resilience management, improved project governance, digital transformation and humanization of technological development. He has contributed a significant number of papers to national and international journals and conferences. Along with important research papers, his poems and articles have also been published in national and international magazines, books and leading newspapers. Educational Background: Graduated from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur. Tech from IIT-Delhi & Ph. D from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
