We erected a soft board prepared with waste packing materials at the Gangadharpur Primary School. We put motivating quotes from our pioneers, like Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and Abdul Kalam Azad, on the board. We discussed those quotes with the students in very simple terms.
We inspired the students to love all animals and people in society, be helpful to others, and not to discriminate among different classes or groups of people. We inspired the students to be honest and remain honest against odds. We inspired them to believe in their own abilities, to keep attempting to learn and develop skills, and not to give up when faced with failure.
We distributed "Ishoper Sera Golpo" - Ramen Bhattacharya, a popular moral story book in Bengali, among the students.
All these are done with the view that one needs to be a good human being, a good citizen, before becoming a good scientist, artist, or sportsperson, etc. Moral education is no less important than training in math, science, arts, literature, history, etc. Moral education must start at a very early age.

The NSS team taught the students how to write the multiplication table of any number by repeated addition.

Today, NSS Unit 1B has accepted school stationery and some old items (clothing, etc.) donated by IIT Kharagpur campus community. The collected items will be distributed to needy village children and families.

On 79th Independence Day, we, NSS unit 1B, IIT Kgp, request the campus community for kind donations for the needy children and families in nearby villages (Gangadharpur).
They may donate
(1) A notebook (or school stationery) for the poor students
(2) Old Text Books which your children no longer need
(3) Old items like clothing, shoes, toys, books etc.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through the MY Bharat platform, is organizing a Quiz on the topic “National Flag of India” from 1st August to 15th August 2025 for all registered MY Bharat users across India.

As part of the initiative, twenty-five top-scoring participants between the ages of 21 to 29 years will be randomly selected for a potential trip to Siachen, along with Hon'ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports

August 9, 2025: On this auspicious day, we, NSS unit 1B, set up for our service in IIT Kharagpur and Gangadharpur village through the celebration of Raksha Bandhan - the symbol of unity, harmony, and brotherhood. The volunteers tie up rakhi around all those hands that make and run our society: doctors, health workers, teachers, security personnel, hostel, mess, and office staff, shopkeepers, maintenance staff, and more. Through this, we recognize the importance of all the roles in our society and learn to respect our roles that life has planned for us.
