*J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED APPROX 07 GRAMS OF HE**INE (CHITTA) LIKE NARCOTICS AT KATHUA; 02 DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED; 01 MOTORBIKE SEIZED.*

PRESS RELEASE;

Kathua; 02 JUNE:- Continuing its efforts against drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS* recovered approx 07 grams of He**in (Chitta) like narcotics in the jurisdictional area of P/S Kathua & 02 drug peddlers arrested.

In the first instance, on 01/06/2026 an information has been received at Police Station Kathua through reliable source that person namely Afrik Mohd S/o Butta Din R/O Dhanore Lakhanpur, Tehsil & District Kathua is actively involved in the illegal trade of He**in like Narcotic substances, especially targeting the youth of Logate Morh area and supplying the said contraband to them for wrongful monetary gain. Reliable source further revealed that he is currently in possession of a large quantity of He**in-like narcotic substance and is enrouted from NH44 towards Logate Morh on a Motorcycle bearing registration no. JK08H-9873 with the intention of selling the contraband to local youth. Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 265/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kathua and further investigation started. During checking police team led by SHO PS Kathua under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua and DySP Hqrs Kathua successfully arrested the said person and recovered approx 07 grams He**in from his possession and motorcycle involved in the commission of crime was also seized on spot.Further investigation has been set into motion.

In the second instance, an information has been received at Police Station Kathua through reliable source that one person namely Sachin Sharma S/o Parshotam Lal R/o Ward No. 12, Kathua Tehsil and District Kathua is a drug addict/consumer and at this time too, he is also consuming some narcotic substance at Ward no. 12, Kathua near Matt Mandir.During checking police team led by SHO PS Kathua under the close supervision of Addl.SP Kathua and DySP Hqrs Kathua arrested the said person.Accordingly, a case FIR No. 264/2026 U/S 27 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kathua and investigation started.

Police again requested people of the area to come forward and share information on 112 or 9858034100 about any such illicit activity with Police for the cause. Your identity will be kept .

*Rebuttal Regarding Reports of Missing Women in Billawer*

A news item is being circulated on social media platforms regarding the alleged disappearance of a large number of women and girls from Kathua district, particularly from the Billawar area. Kathua Police strongly refutes these misleading claims regarding the disappearance of women.

Kathua Police would like to clarify the following:

• During the year 2025, a total of 70 missing person cases were reported, out of which 63 persons were traced. In the year 2026, 34 missing person cases have been reported so far, of which 26 persons have already been traced. Most of the traced women/girls were found to have left their homes voluntarily and of their own free will, including for marriage or other personal reasons.

• After tracing such women/girls, their statements are recorded before the competent authority, and further action is taken strictly in accordance with the law. In many cases, the traced individuals have subsequently been reunited with their families/guardians.

• Every missing person report received at police stations is promptly registered and investigated as per the prescribed legal procedure.

• Kathua Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and continues to investigate every missing person case with the utmost seriousness and professionalism.

• The public is requested not to spread misinformation. Please verify facts before sharing any information on social media platforms.

KATHUA; 01 JUNE:- Continuing its efforts against drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS* recovered/ seized *approx 5 grams of He**in (Chitta) like narcotics* at Bhini Bridge, PS Billawar, 01 notorious drug peddler arrested.

On 31-05-2026, acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source, a Police team led by *SHO PS Billawar* under the supervision of *SP Ops. Upper Kathua & SDPO Billawar* laid down a special naka/ checking at Bhini Bridge area and apprehended one person namely *1. Sandeep Sharma S/o Sat Paul R/o Banhore Tehsil & District Kathua* who was enrouted under suspicious circumstances.During Checking approx 5 Grams He**in like substance recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband was seized and accused person was taken into police custody on spot. In this regard a *case FIR No. 103/2026 U/S 8/21/22// NDPS Act has been registered at PS Billawar*.Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drugs in the area.
Moreover, it is pertinent to mention here that the said accused has been involved in 03 NDPS Act Cases registered at different Police Stations of Kathua District.
