Divisional Forest Officer Awantipora Unfurls National Flag, Marks Republic Day with Inspirational Address.

Awantipora, January 26, 2026– In a solemn and patriotic ceremony on the eve of Republic Day, the Divisional Forest Officer Awantipora, Mr. Waseem Farooq Mir (DCF), unfurled the National flag at the Forest Division Office, Awantipora, signifying a heartfelt celebration of India's democratic spirit.

This auspicious event, witnessed by a diverse assembly of employees and local residents, commenced with the dignified unfurling of the Tricolor by Mr.Waseem Farooq Mir (DCF). The Forest Division Office premises transformed into a sea of unity as the National anthem resonated through the air, evoking a deep sense of patriotism among the onlookers.

During his poignant address, Mr. Waseem Farooq Mir (DCF) articulated the profound significance of Republic Day, transcending the customary ceremony of flag hoisting. Later, an institutional plantation drive was carried out in the premises of Division office wherein Worthy Divisional forest officer Awantipora planted a deodar sapling in presence of Range officer Pampore Mr. Mian Ishfaq Hussain and Range officer Tral Mr. Javeed Ahmad Malik and other officers.

In conclusion, the Republic Day celebration at the Forest Division Office in Awantipora was not merely a ceremonial occasion but a powerful demonstration of unity, patriotism, and a renewed pledge to the ideals that define the nation. The Chatlam wetland is situated on a flat land between saffron fields of Pampore and Zabarwan hills and it remains surrounded by Lalpora, Konibal, Tulbagh and Meej villages.

About 128 species of different types of the migratory birds including Mallards,Common Coot, Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Grey Leg Goose, Pintail.visit wetlands during season. It’s during winters the wetlands of Pampore is most hospitable abode for thousands of avian guests which flock here from various countries of Europe and Asia. About 50,000 birds of different species flock Chatlam and its sister wetlands in Pampore.

The blue whistling Thrush (Myophonus caeruleus), The Streaked Laughing-Thush (Trochalopteron lineatum ) and The Indian Golden Oriole (Oriolus kundoo) locally named as Hazaardastaan, Sheena-pi-pin and Posh Nool are a visual treat to eyes.
