📣Important Announcement

“Dry Day” is being declared across Kamrup District on the day of counting of votes for the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections, 2026, scheduled on 04/05/2026.

During this period, all wholesale warehouses, IMFL/beer retail outlets, and country spirit shops will remain closed until the completion of the counting process. The sale, distribution, and even possession of liquor and other intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited to ensure maintenance of law and order. This measure is aimed at facilitating a peaceful and disciplined counting process.

Any violation will invite strict action under relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Special Observer Shri Manjeet Singh, IAS (Retd.), along with Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, Shri Anurag Goel, IAS, and District Commissioner of Kamrup, Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS, conducted a detailed review of counting arrangements at Amingaon ahead of the General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2026.

The team inspected counting centres, strong rooms, counting halls, and movement routes, reviewing logistical preparedness, security measures, and adherence to prescribed guidelines to ensure a smooth, transparent, and efficient counting process.

Discussions were also held with district officials on manpower deployment, communication systems, and contingency planning, with emphasis on strict compliance with election protocols and maintaining transparency at every stage.

The inspection aimed to assess ground-level readiness and address any gaps in advance. The officials expressed satisfaction with the overall preparations while directing concerned authorities to remain vigilant for seamless ex*****on on counting day.

Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, Kamrup, chaired a meeting today at the Conference Hall of the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office, Kamrup with the contesting candidates of the six Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) and their representatives regarding the counting of votes scheduled on May 4 in connection with the forthcoming General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2026.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the arrangements and protocols for the counting process, including entry procedures, counting hall arrangements, deployment of officials, security measures, issuance of passes, media arrangements and adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The District Commissioner urged all candidates and representatives to extend full cooperation and strictly follow the guidelines to ensure the free, fair, smooth and peaceful conduct of the counting process.

A comprehensive review meeting on Counting Day preparedness was chaired by Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, at the Conference Hall of the Integrated DC Office, Amingaon.

All arrangements pertaining to the conduct of counting were reviewed comprehensively and deliberated upon in detail. The discussions encompassed round-wise counting procedures, management of postal ballots, ETPBS scanning protocols, data reporting mechanisms, security arrangements, logistical support, deployment of personnel and strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, with an emphasis on ensuring accuracy, transparency and timely completion of the counting process.

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shri Subhasish Baruah, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Shri Siddhartha Goswami, District Development Commissioner Shri Sushanta Kumar Dutta, Additional District Commissioners (ADCs), the Additional SP, all Returning Officers, the Election Officer and other senior officials.
