Garden High School IISER Kolkata Campus organised a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Skill Education (Kaushal Vikas) for Class IX on 11 August 2026, in alignment with the CBSE framework and the recommendations of NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Agarwal, Vice Principal, Krishnagar Public School, and Ms. Ruma Mukherjee, Principal, Spark School, Mahanad, Hooghly, who served as the resource persons.
The sessions focused on:

โœจ Activity-based and experiential learning
โœจ Classroom implementation strategies

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Ms. Ratna Biswas, Principal, Garden High School IISER Kolkata Campus, who served as the Venue Director appointed by the Board for the programme.
Through interactive activities and hands-on experiences, teachers explored vocational tasks and innovative pedagogical strategies that can help create meaningful, practical and competency-based learning experiences for students.

The Inter-House Drama Competition for students of Classes VI to XII was successfully held at Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus on 7th August 2026.
The event was a vibrant celebration of creativity, confidence, teamwork, acting skills, and social awareness. Each house presented an original and thought-provoking play addressing meaningful contemporary issues:
๐ŸŒฟ Cedar House โ€“ highlighted the dangers of excessive mobile phone usage and digital dependency.
๐Ÿ’ช Palm House โ€“ presented the story of a lazy child who discovers the value of hard work and responsibility.
๐ŸŒณ Oak House โ€“ raised awareness about afforestation, global warming, and climate change.
๐Ÿ“š Chinar House โ€“ emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between education and recreation.
All the participants displayed remarkable confidence, creativity, and stage presence, making the competition an enriching learning experience beyond the classroom.
The programme concluded with an inspiring address by Mrs. Mohua Dasgupta, Secretary, Satikanto Guha Foundation, who congratulated all the participants and appreciated their ability to convey important social messages through drama.

Celebrating the Spirit of Independence!
Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus celebrated Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The celebration brought together students of Classes 6โ€“12, along with parents and teachers, in a memorable programme.
The celebrations began at 9:00 a.m. with the hoisting of the National Flag by our Principal, Mrs Ratna Biswas, followed by the National Anthem and the soulful rendition of Vande Mataram.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by a vibrant cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and a captivating dance-drama highlighting the contribution of women to Indiaโ€™s freedom struggle. The performances beautifully reflected our studentsโ€™ talents, enthusiasm and deep sense of patriotism.
The programme concluded on a joyful and inspiring note, reminding us of the values of freedom, unity and togetherness that make our nation strong.

Celebrating the Spirit of Independence!
Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus, celebrated Independence Day Eve with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and cultural fervour.
The celebration showcased the remarkable talents of our students of Nursery I to Class II and reflected the creativity, discipline, and dedication of learners across different age groups. The programme began with an inspiring speech, followed by captivating dance performances that beautifully expressed the spirit of the occasion.
๐ŸŽถ The patriotic song presented by the students filled the atmosphere with pride, unity, and love for our nation. A heartfelt Bengali recitation celebrated Indiaโ€™s rich cultural heritage and linguistic diversity.
๐Ÿฅ‹ A special highlight of the event was the Karate demonstration, where the participants displayed remarkable discipline, focus, confidence, and determination.
The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices and contributions of our freedom fighters, whose courage and dedication paved the way for a free and independent India.

Nine students of Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus, from Classes 10, 11 and 12, attended a commemorative programme on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, hosted by IISER Kolkata in association with Vivekananda Vijnan Mission, the West Bengal Chapter of Vijnana Bharati, and Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., marking the 165th birth anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray.
The programme featured insightful talks by Prof. Ayan Datta (IACS Kolkata), Prof. Dulal C. Mukherjee (former President, Indian Chemical Society), and Prof. Sayam Sengupta (IISER Kolkata), along with an engaging experimental demonstration by Prof. Sanjio S. Zade.
The speakers reflected on Acharya Rayโ€™s visionary approach to science, highlighting his belief that scientific progress is inseparable from the progress of the nation. His journey in chemistry was likened to a battle fought with the spirit and determination of revolutionaries.

Students from Classes VIII and IX of Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Foundation Day of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, on 10 July 2026.
The visit was an enriching educational experience, filled with curiosity, exploration, and learning. Our young learners explored fascinating exhibitions across the departments of Geology, Biology, Physics, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Zoology. They interacted with professors, explored intriguing scientific modelsโ€”including a DNA sequencer and a simple pendulumโ€”and witnessed exciting live chemical reactions. Several students also had the opportunity to share their experiences through interviews. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ”
A major highlight of the day was the main auditorium event, where the students had the privilege of listening to two distinguished speakers:

Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus, hosted an exciting Inter-House Football Match for the students of Classes VI, VII & VIII (Boys' Category) on Friday, 17 July 2026.
๐Ÿฅ‡ Cedar House emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional teamwork, coordination, determination, and strategy throughout the tournament.
๐Ÿฅˆ Palm House secured the second position, while ๐Ÿฅ‰ Oak House finished third. Chinar House also delivered a spirited performance, securing the fourth position.
Beyond the scores and results, the event celebrated the true spirit of sportsโ€”teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. It was a wonderful opportunity for our young athletes to learn, compete, and grow together. ๐ŸŒŸ

Thirty-three students of Class IX from Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus participated in a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Training Programme organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani, on 27 July 2026.
The programme aimed to equip our students with essential life-saving skills and prepare them to respond confidently and promptly during medical emergencies. The resource persons explained the importance of immediate action and demonstrated the correct techniques of administering CPR.
The students enthusiastically participated in the hands-on training session, gaining valuable practical knowledge and confidence in handling emergency situations. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ‘
The students were accompanied by Mrs. Poushali Pal and Mrs. Sanchita Chakraborty, who guided and supported them throughout the programme.
