🌱 A Sacred Gift of Peace: The Bodhi Tree Comes to the United States - We are filled with deep gratitude as we look back at this meaningful photo from August 2025, capturing the moment Venerable Ratanaguṇa and Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra traveled to Sri Lanka to receive a sacred Bodhi tree sapling.

This sapling comes from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, which originated from a branch of the original Bodhi Tree—the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. The Government of Sri Lanka and the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Society generously offered this sacred lineage to be planted at Hương Đạo Vipassana Bhavānā Center in the United States, where it will grow for generations to come.

Since August 2025, this precious sapling has been patiently waiting in Sri Lanka. Now, our venerable monks, during the Walk for Peace journey in Sri Lanka between April 21 and May 1, 2026, will soon bring this sapling together with the Sacred Relics of the Buddha back to our temple in Fort Worth, Texas.

This sapling carries the very same essence as our Walk for Peace: a living symbol of peace, wisdom, loving-kindness, compassion, and harmony. It connects ancient wisdom to the present moment, reminding us that peace is timeless and universal. Just as this tree will grow from ancient roots into new soil, may the peace we cultivate together take root deeply in every heart and community.

We are profoundly grateful to the people and government of Sri Lanka for entrusting us with these precious gifts. We await with joyful hearts the day we welcome these sacred symbols home.

🌿🕊️ A Sacred Journey of Peace is Coming to Sri Lanka! 🙏☸️
On 21st April 2026, a group of Buddhist monks from America — led by Venerable Pannakara Thero — will arrive in Sri Lanka to begin the Walk for Peace.
These same venerable monks recently completed an extraordinary 2,300-mile (3,700 km) peace walk on foot from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington D.C., spreading a powerful message of compassion, mindfulness, and non-violence across America.
Now, they are bringing that same beautiful energy back to their spiritual homeland.
Carrying a sapling of the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and the blessings of the Buddha, they will walk for seven days (22nd to 28th April) from Anuradhapura → Dambulla → Kandy → Colombo.
This is not just a walk — it is a living prayer for world peace, a bridge of love connecting America and Sri Lanka, and a gentle reminder that true peace begins in the heart.
Let us welcome them with open hearts, join in spirit, and spread the message of Metta (loving-kindness) and harmony across the world.

Walk for peace

🐾 It was a pleasure to watch our volunteers assist Aloka in modeling the various outfits generously provided by his supporters. The experience was reminiscent of a private fashion show, tailored to his unique needs. What touched our hearts was Aloka's remarkable calmness and patience throughout the process. As the volunteers gently helped him into each piece, he remained perfectly still, accepting every gift with gratitude. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed these beautiful gifts, ensuring Aloka's comfort and style. May you and all beings experience peace, happiness, and well-being. 🙏 🐾💖🙏🌈💫

Inside every person, there is a wild mind.

This mind does not stay in one place. It jumps from thought to thought, from fear to fear, from desire to desire. It keeps moving without rest.

When the mind is free without guidance, it tends to move toward negativity. It thinks about problems, creates worries, and repeats painful memories.

This is why mindfulness is necessary. Without it, the mind continues its wild behavior. With it, the mind begins to settle.

Recognizing this nature of the mind is the first step. Training it is the next step.

🎉 We Have Arrived in Washington, D.C.! – Day 108 (2/10/2026)
After 108 days and 2,300 miles of walking through eight states, we have finally reached our nation’s capital. This is a profound and sacred milestone on our journey for peace.

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for everyone who has walked with us—whether in person or in spirit—through every state, every mile, and every single step of the way. From Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., we have carried a message of peace, mindfulness, and loving-kindness. And now, we have arrived.
