1,900 Metric Tons of legacy waste cleared in Poonch after NGT action. This was lying near Poonch River for last 20 years ands every day 3 to 4 quintal waste was dumped here by local Municipality.
The action was taken by District Administration and MC Poonch after environmental activist and chairman J&K Climate Action Group -JKCAG Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat filed a case in the National Green Tribunal -NGT three years back.

We are now waiting for the Bio- Remediation work which will start soon according to CEO MC Poonch Mr Khalil Banday. Will ask NGT to monitor this case so that matter is taken to its logical conclusion- Poonch Municipality needs to be provided at least 10 new waste collection vehicles. Even small Battery Operated vehicles can be purchased. Local MP / MLA can provide funds under CDF / MP LAD
