A Nation that is steeped in wealthy theological history of worshipping women in the form of "Shakti" stands challenged by the state of women in modern India. A civilization that celebrates Goddess Durga in her various avatars, a history that is enriched by the contribution of great warriors like Rani Laxmi Bai, battles to come to terms with the fact that in the modern Indian state the dream, the d
emand of adequate representation through passage of the women's reservation bill in Parliament is yet unfulfilled. The Nation was a witness to the BJP's commitment towards the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill when the UPA government was unable to hold its ground in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP through its endeavour ensured the historic passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha thereby fulfilling our promise to our fellow citizens. We eagerly await the introduction of the bill in the Lok Sabha. However, if the UPA government yet again fails to keep its promise to the women of India, the BJP assures our Mothers and Sisters of a sustained campaign within the Parliament and on the streets till the Women's Reservation Bill is passed in Parliament and women across the Nation get adequate political representation in the temple of democracy. The Mahila Morcha wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party applauds 33% reservation given to women within the Party thereby facilitating increased participation of women in formation of policies and implementation of programs by the Party; making it the 1st ever political party in the country to do so.
