Under the initiative of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Manipur, the District Administration & DHEW, Tamenglong celebrated the birth of newborn girls with joy, dignity and pride at District Hospital, Tamenglong on 7th September 2026.

The programme aimed to promote positive attitudes towards daughters, gender equality, and the importance of girlsโ€™ health, education, safety and empowerment. Mothers and families were encouraged to provide every girl child with a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.

The Child Helpline 1098 Recruitment Examination under Mission Vatsalya was successfully conducted across Manipur, despite the geographical challenges faced by candidates from the Hill Districts.

To ensure safety and convenience, candidates from hill areas were facilitated with alternative examination centres. Additional centres were also arranged at Noney and Tamenglong on request, making the examination more accessible.

A One-Day Awareness Programme on Prevention of School Dropout among Adolescent Girls under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was held at Kumbi Shandong Upper Primary School, Bishnupur District, organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women and District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Bishnupur.

The programme emphasised the importance of education and encouraged girls to continue their studies. Notebooks and pens were also distributed to motivate and support the students in their educational journey.

An awareness programme on โ€œMenstrual Health and Hygiene & Distribution of Sanitary Padsโ€ under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was organised on 31st August 2026 at Rangtaiba Memorial Institute, Maram Bazar, by the District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Senapati and District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Senapati.

The session, delivered by Dr. S. R. Augustine, SMO, Maram Bazaar PHC, highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene, healthy menstrual practices and menstrual health awareness among students.
The programme concluded with the distribution of sanitary pads, encouraging young girls to embrace menstruation with awareness, confidence and dignity. The successful programme was made possible through the active participation and cooperation of the school authorities and students.
