π–π‘πšπ­ 𝐒𝐬 𝐭𝐑𝐒𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐚π₯π₯ 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐦?

Scammers are using a new tactic to trick victims to inadvertently share their OTPs to gain unauthorized access to bank accounts or other secure platforms. Targets get a call about an opportunity from a stranger claiming they got their number from his friend. Scammer tells target their friend is calling from a different number and asks target to merge call. However, that number isn't of a friend but an OTP verification call from bank/other secure platforms.

BEWARE! INCIDENTS OF BLACKMAIL AND DIGITAL ARREST BY β€œCYBERCRIMINALS” ARE PREVALENT IN MANIPUR. PLEASE DO NOT ENTERTAIN ANY CALLS FROM UNKNOWN NUMBERS WHO IMPERSONATED AS OUTSIDE STATE POLICE/NCB/CBI/ED/RBI/CUSTOM/COURIER AGENCIES. IF SUCH CALL IS RECEIVED, PLEASE VERIFY THE AUTHENTICITY OF SUCH CALL BY CONTACTING LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY AND NEVER TRANSFER MONEY ON THE BASIS OF DEMANDS FROM UNKNOWN PERSON OVER PHONE. PLEASE REPORT CYBER CRIMES AT NATIONAL CYBER CRIME REPORTING PORTAL OR REGISTERING DETAILS ON WWW.CYBERCRIME.GOV.IN

In recent months, incidents of extorting money by cybercriminals/fraudsters misusing the name of Police, IB, I4C, CBI and INTERPOL are being reported. Cybercriminal extorts money from individuals by impersonating as senior Govt. officials and using forged signature on fake documents. They are employing sophisticated tactics by using registered phishing domains, sending fake emails to individual and falsely accuse them of cybercrimes, and urging them to respond. To avoid any such cyberfraud, people are requested to be extra-cautious of such design of cybercriminals/fraudsters to prevent loss of their money.
