Assam’s Peehu Kumari and Nayatri Chetia have been selected by the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) through its Taekwondo Talent Hunt Programme, marking a major milestone in their sporting journey. Both athletes were part of the High Performance Taekwondo Training Camp organised earlier this year under the expert guidance of Jade Jones, two-time Olympic Champion in Taekwondo, alongside Gary Hall MBE, High Performance Director at Inspire Institute of Sport, and Jaouad Achab of Belgium, European and World Champion in Taekwondo.
Adding to the pride, Assam’s Rodali Barua has also been selected by IIS and will undergo further elite-level training as part of the programme.
The trio impressed during the talent identification initiative and earned selection for advanced international exposure and training programmes at IIS.
Their upcoming international training and competition schedule includes:
📍 Croatian Training Camp | 6–16 June
📍 European Open Clubs Championship 2026, Bosnia | 18–20 June
📍 Bosnia Open 2026 | 21–22 June
📍 Balkan Cup, Serbia | 27–28 June
📍 Chuncheon Cup 2026, South Korea | 16 July
📍 High Performance Camp, South Korea | 19 July – 15 August
These selections reflect the growing impact of high-performance sports initiatives in Assam and the immense potential of the state’s young athletes to shine on the international stage.
Wishing all three athletes the very best as they carry Assam and India forward with determination, discipline, and pride.
