The Gandhi Shilp Bazar (District), Tezpur organised by Assam Govt. Marketing Corporation Ltd. (AGMC), is being held from 14–20 December 2025 at Rangali Bihu Sanmilan Field, Jaimati Pathar, Tezpur, Assam, under the jurisdiction of HSC, Jorhat.
The event provides a vibrant platform for artisans to showcase and market their handicraft products. The public is earnestly requested to visit the stalls, experience the rich diversity of traditional crafts, and encourage the artisans by supporting their handcrafted products.

As part of the nationwide celebration of National Handicrafts Week (8–14 December 2025), the North Eastern Regional Office (NERO), Guwahati, under the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, successfully organised a Pehchan Card Distribution cm Awareness Programme on 13 December 2025 at Ramdia Village, Hajo, Assam.

The programme aimed at strengthening the unique identity of artisans through the distribution of 56 Pehchan Cards, thereby enhancing their access to various government welfare schemes. The initiative also focused on creating greater awareness among handicraft artisans about the benefits and support available to them.

The programme was attended by Ms. Rakhee Ranjan, HPO; Ms. Rinka Chetri, LDC; Sh. Sanjeet Kr. Nirala, LDC; and Sh. Kartik Kumar, LDC. Officials of NERO interacted directly with the artisans, highlighting the importance of the Pehchan Card and sensitising them about departmental schemes and benefits.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from artisans and local stakeholders alike, marking a meaningful step towards empowering artisans, strengthening their socio-economic security, and recognising their invaluable contribution to India’s rich handicraft heritage.

During National Handicrafts Week 2025, the North Eastern Regional Office (NERO), Guwahati successfully organised a one-day workshop/seminar at the PWD Convention & Training Centre, Dispur, Guwahati. Smt. Moyuri Oja, ACS, Director, Handlooms & Textiles, Govt. of Assam, graced the programme as Chief Guest, while Sh. Hara Kanta Baro, Regional Director (H), NERO, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, attended as Special Guest. The programme featured resource persons from EPCH, NEHHDC, IIT Guwahati and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, M/s Kiran Foundation, with participation from National Awardees, designers, entrepreneurs, producer companies, over 100 artisans, and officials of NERO.

O/o D C (Handicrafts), North Eastern Regional Office (NERO), Guwahati is celebrating National Handicrafts Week 2025 with great enthusiasm. Along with the ongoing Handicrafts Exhibition, a Craft Awareness Program was organised today in Guwahati.
The event saw active participation from the Regional Director (H), Chartered Accountant, NABARD official, District Industries & Commerce officer, as well as several NGOs, Producers Companies, stakeholders, 100+ artisans, entrepreneurs, and officials of NERO. Their collective involvement made the program insightful and further strengthened efforts to promote the region’s rich handicraft traditions.

✨ National Handicrafts Week Celebration – Meghalaya ✨
