Swapnali Barman, Scientist ‘D’, and Shri Waikhom Rahul Singh, Scientist ‘C’, from the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Guwahati, providing participants with key methodologies and scientific approaches essential for DPR preparation.
25.08.2026 | DPR Preparation for Anti-Erosion & Flood Management Works: The session was dedicated to an "Introduction to BRAHMA – 1D and 2D", focusing on advanced river modeling techniques for hydrodynamic simulation and erosion assessment. The technical sessions were delivered by Prof. Arup Kumar Sarma, Professor, IIT Guwahati, along with Shakti Kalyani, Amit Kalita, and Amlanjyoti Sarma, enriching the participants with practical perspectives on river modeling tools.
27.08.2026 | DPR Preparation for Anti-Erosion & Flood Management Works: The training progressed with an intensive "Hands-On Session on HEC-HMS" (Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydrologic Modeling System). The session was conducted by Dr. Anil Kumar Lohani, Former Scientist - ‘G’, NIH Roorkee, who guided the participants through practical watershed modeling, rainfall-runoff simulation, and their application in flood mitigation planning.
28.08.2026 | DPR Preparation for Anti-Erosion & Flood Management Works: Building on the previous day’s modeling concepts, the session focused on an "Introduction to HEC-RAS" for 1D and 2D hydraulic analysis and flood inundation mapping. The session was conducted by Dr. Anil Kumar Lohani, Former Scientist - ‘G’, NIH Roorkee, providing valuable insights into hydraulic modeling for effective river engineering and DPR formulation.
The expert faculties were felicitated by Dr. Ranjit Deka, Director, NEHARI, Brahmaputra Board, recognising their valuable contribution towards strengthening technical capacity and promoting scientific approaches to DPR preparation, flood resilience, and anti-erosion planning.
