Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for two important four-laning packages of NH-56 in Gujarat, covering a total length of 107.67 km with an investment of ₹4,583 crore. The corridors will upgraded into modern four-lane National Highways with paved shoulders, enhancing safety, travel efficiency and connectivity across Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat and Tapi districts.

By strengthening links between tribal and rural regions and major urban and industrial centres, the corridor is expected to boost tourism to destinations such as the Statue of Unity, Sardar Sarovar Dam, Jambughoda and Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuaries, while also creating new opportunities for trade, employment and sustainable economic growth across South Gujarat.

Green highways, greener future. 🌿

On the occasion of World Environment Day, NHAI RO Gandhinagar organized a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative across various locations under RO Gandhinagar.

The drive brought together officials and participants in a collective effort to contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Each sapling planted represents a step towards strengthening roadside greenery and supporting long-term ecological balance along the highway network. 🌍💚

NHAI has taken note of a recent incident regarding the alleged misuse of the vehicle registration number and tampering of number plate to avoid toll payments on MLFF-operated toll location on National Highway. The matter has been referred to the concerned authorities for appropriate action, and an FIR has been filed in this regard.

Advanced technology-driven systems deployed across the National Highway network, in coordination with the VAHAN/Parivahan database and other digital enforcement mechanisms, enable verification of vehicle details and identification of discrepancies between vehicle registration records and number plates displayed on vehicles.

National Highway users are advised not to alter or tamper with vehicle number plates in any manner. Such practices not only violate the law but may also lead to enforcement action by the concerned authorities.

Today’s myth addresses a common misconception that toll collection stops once the cost of constructing a National Highway is recovered.

In reality, toll collection on National Highways is governed by the National Highways Fee Rules and supports the ongoing operation, maintenance, safety improvements, and long-term upkeep of highway assets to ensure a safe and efficient travel experience for road users.

Through this series, NHAI aims to share verified information and raise awareness about tolling, highway infrastructure, commuter facilities, and road safety across National Highways.
