“Stop Communalizing Corporate Spaces: Young Democrats Respond to TCS Nashik Coverage”

Press Release

Date : 19 April, 2026
Place : New Delhi

The Young Democrats expresses deep concern over the manner in which certain sections of the media are portraying the recent incident involving Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik.

While any such incident must be thoroughly investigated and addressed based on facts and due process, it is highly irresponsible to generalize an isolated case and use it to defame an entire community—particularly Muslims and other minorities working in the corporate sector.

We urge the media to act with responsibility and uphold the principles of ethical journalism. Professional spaces in India have always been built on merit, inclusivity, and diversity. Attempting to portray minorities as having 'hidden agendas' without evidence only deepens mistrust and harms social cohesion.

There appears to be a growing pattern where certain ideological narratives are amplified to create division and suspicion. Such attempts to defame, polarize, and isolate minorities in corporate environments are deeply concerning and go against the values of a democratic and plural society.

To maintain social stability, media organizations must report responsibly by sticking to verified facts and avoiding harmful communal generalizations. Simultaneously, authorities must uphold the rule of law through fair, impartial, and transparent investigations to ensure public trust. Finally, corporate institutions have a duty to protect inclusivity, fostering a safe and discrimination-free workplace where every employee feels secure.

India’s strength lies in its diversity. Any attempt to divide people along communal lines, especially in professional spaces, must be firmly rejected.

Institutional Murder Must End: Justice for Nithinraj

The death of Nithinraj, a student of Anjarakkandi Medical College, Kannur, Kerala and a native of Thiruvananthapuram, is not just a tragedy — it is an institutional murder.

This incident exposes the deeply rooted casteist and discriminatory mindset that continues to exist within our educational institutions, even in campuses that are meant to uphold equality and dignity. When a student is pushed to such extreme distress due to systemic bias, harassment, and humiliation, the responsibility lies not only on individuals but also on the institution that allowed it to happen.

We strongly condemn this inhuman act and the toxic environment that led to it.

Those responsible — including the teachers and authorities involved — must be immediately arrested and brought to justice. A fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation must be ensured, and strict action should follow without delay.

This incident once again underlines the urgent relevance of implementing the Rohith Act in campuses to prevent institutional discrimination and ensure accountability.

Educational institutions must be safe, inclusive spaces free from caste-based discrimination. No student should ever feel abandoned or targeted within a campus.

Blocking Content Creators is Not 'Public Order', It is the Death of Democracy We Will Not Accept, we condemn the misuse of section 69A of the IT Act.

The Young Democrats National Organizing Committee strongly condemns the systemic and arbitrary deployment of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act to silence dissenting voices. While the state maintains the prerogative to protect national security, current executive actions have shifted from "reasonable restriction" to a "secret law" infrastructure that threatens the core of our constitutional democracy. This escalation is evidenced by a record-breaking surge in digital censorship; in 2024, the government blocked over 28,000 URLs, marking the highest volume of takedowns to date, while July 2025 saw a single executive order demanding the immediate suspension of over 2,300 accounts on X, including those of reputable international news agencies.

Since the 2026 amendments to the IT Rules, the compliance window for these blocking orders has been drastically reduced to just three hours—the shortest globally—leaving no room for judicial oversight or the verification of claims before content is scrubbed from the internet. This "censor-first" mandate has disproportionately targeted journalists and independent creators, often bypassing the procedural safeguards mandated by the Supreme Court in the Shreya Singhal judgment, which explicitly requires originators to be heard.

We demand that government power be exercised with absolute transparency and accountability, strictly within the spirit of democratic values. The practice of keeping blocking orders confidential under Rule 16 must end immediately, as opaque governance is an affront to Article 19 of the Constitution. Democracy is more than the act of voting; it is the right to question and disagree without fear of executive overreach. We urge the government to establish independent oversight for all Section 69A orders and call upon citizens to protect the principles of free speech. A nation that silences its critics is a nation that obstructs the truth, and the Young democrates National Organizing Committee remains committed to ensuring that power is wielded accountably and in the service of the people, not the censors.

LPG Shortage Is a Governance Failure — Government Must Be Held Accountable

Gas cylinder shortage clearly reflects a failure of governance.
No proper supply.
No accountability.
Only suffering for the common people.

Families are waiting…
Kitchens are going silent…

This is not just a shortage — this is a policy collapse.
