You must've heard about the Free Tamil Nadu Temples Movement by now. If you haven't yet, please visit freetntemples.org
63 million people in Tamil Nadu don't have the right to manage their own places of worship! You might find it hard to believe that this is happening in a secular nation.
Currently the temples in Tamil Nadu are in the government's control and here are some numbers to show you what's wrong with that ➡️
11,999 temples are dying without a single pooja taking place
34,000 temples are struggling with less than Rs 10,000 a year.
37,000 temples have just one person for pooja, maintenance, security, etc.
1200 idols have been stolen from Tamil Nadu
For over 200 years, governing authorities have kept a stranglehold on temples. Instead of being places of devotion and wellbeing, they have become instruments of revenue generation. The soul of Tamil Culture is crumbling under this pressure.
Tamil civilization grew and flourished around temples. Literature, art, music, trade, agriculture - from birth to death - in every aspect of life, temples played a central role. Temples connect us across thousands of years of ancient Tamil Culture.

Deities are not mere stone sculptures. They are living sources of energy. As deities break and temples crumble, crores of devotees in Tamil Nadu are going through enormous pain. The fate of Tamil Nadu's sacred temples can change only if devotees are allowed to manage them.
