Nammude Chengannur

Nammude Chengannur Chengannur (also spelled Chenganoor, Chenganur, and Chengannoor) is located in the extreme eastern part of Alappuzha district.

Chengannur, located on the banks of the holy river Pampa is a municipal town in Alappuzha district of the state of Kerala in South India. It is 117 kilometres (73 mi) north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram on the MC Road. It is also the administrative headquarters of the the three southern taluks of the district. CHENGANNUR is connected to Kollam(70kms

) and Kottayam(35kms) by NH 220. CHENGANNUR is noted for its Shiva temple-CHENGANNUR Mahadeva Kshetram and tens of others and its Old Syrian Church. It is also the closest major rail head to the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple. The nearest towns are Pandalam to the south, Thiruvalla to the north, Mavelikkara to the west and Aranmula and Pathanamthitta to the east. The municipality contains villages such as Neervilakom, Puthencavu, Perissery, Mundankavu, Edanadu, Mulakuzha, Kozhuvalloor, Cheriyanad, Puliyoor, Pennukkara and Poomala Chaal.
