International Day of Forests 21 March 2024
It was no ordinary Sunday morning on 24th March 2024, as a rejuvenating nature walk was organised by KFD (Kaggalipura range) initiated by DCF (Urban) Ravindra Kumar Sir. The event was a huge success with around 350-400 nature enthusiasts attending the event (although the initial expected count was about 150 people). The attendees got to enjoy the beauty of the Turahalli Minor Forest after a long wait of nearly 4 years, as it was closed to the public during that period.
The event saw the attendance of people from across Bengaluru and across various age groups.
Ravindra Sir along with our chief guest Sri Nagesh Hegde Sir (https://www.iijnm.org/profile/nagesh-hegde/) joined the crowd for the walk.
The gathering enjoyed the motivating and insightful talk by the chief guest, Sri Nagesh Hegde Sir along with a short quiz session for the kids, who got a book each, as a gift for every right answer. It was amazing to see so many youngsters out there. The information given during the quiz session was extremely valuable for children and adults alike.
Mr. Purushotham from CMKR expressed his appreciation for the initiative and the great work done by the department, while Mr. Satyanarayan from Civil Defence (trained under Ministry of Home affairs) spoke about the contributions and safety measures taken by the team to be able to cater to the needs of the citizens during any disaster (fallen trees, traffic, flooding, fire etc) and also about the importance of public participation.
We do look forward to more such events in the future!
Once again, thank you all for your participation and continued support!
