*Manas Opens a Gateway to Responsible Tourism*
_RTC inauguration marks a foundational step towards Waste Conscious Manas_
The inauguration of Responsible Tourism Centre (RTC) Manas on 2 October 2026 marks a foundational step towards a Waste Conscious Manas. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sjt. Hagrama Mahilary, Honourable Chief Executive Member, BTC in presence of Executive Engineer (PHE) Baksa Division. Located near the park entrance, the Centre enables visitors to voluntarily deposit single-use plastic items that are not permitted inside the park before beginning their visit. With drinking-water refill access and information on responsible waste practices, it makes care for the landscape a practical part of the visitor experience.
RTC Manas symbolises a shared commitment involving the Forest Department, Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, Royal Enfield Social Mission and The Midway Journey, along with the support of local communities, guides, safari associations, resorts and homestays. Building on existing local efforts, The Midway Journey’s Root Connect initiative, funded by Royal Enfield Social Mission, helps connect and strengthen waste management and community-based tourism, with institutional support from the Forest Department and Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, PHED Baksa District. The Centre invites visitors to discover Manas through its people, culture and living traditions—and to join the collective effort to care for this landscape.
