Condolence Message
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un
On behalf of Ummat-e-Islami, I, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, express my deep sorrow at the passing of Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat Sahib. Kashmir has lost a distinguished scholar, a principled leader, and a voice of courage who devoted his life to the service of his people.
For me, this loss carries a special weight. Prof. Bhat Sahib shared a historic association with my revered father, Shaheed-e-Millat Dr. Qazi Nisar Sahib. Together, they stood shoulder to shoulder in the formative years of the Muslim United Front, giving voice to the aspirations of our people and laying the foundation of a collective resistance through both intellect and spirituality. Their companionship was rooted in a shared commitment to justice, dignity, and the rights of Kashmiris.
Today, as I mourn Prof. Bhat Sahib’s departure, I also remember the deep respect my father held for him, and the manner in which both men, in their own unique capacities, contributed to shaping the political and social consciousness of our nation. His passing is not just a personal loss, but a void in the collective memory of our struggle.
I pray to Almighty Allah to grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat Sahib and to bestow patience upon his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his wisdom and guidance. His legacy of knowledge, integrity, and steadfastness will continue to inspire generations.
