Uday Mahurkar's India

Uday Mahurkar's India My vision about unalloyed nationalism and fighting disintegrating forces without fear or favour. Believer in unalloyed nationalism. I continue to cover Gujarat.

Nothing is greater than the nation. I am from an old Maratha family whose ancestor Sardar Bhikajirao had fought in the 3rd Battle of Panipat in 1761 against Afghan invader Ahmedshah Abdali. Belong to village Mahur near Fort Purandar near Pune, Maharashtra. Bhikajirao's sons shifted to North India under Shrimant Mahadji Shinde in 1780s and subsequently to Gwalior. My original clan is Salunke known

as Solanki in Rajputs ( Gotra Bharadwaj).

* Our Kuldevta is Shri Khandoba -Shri Martand Bhairav of Fort Jejuri near Pune. Our Kuldevi is Shri Renukadevi, mother of Shri Parshuram whose Shaktipeeth is at Mahurgadh near Nanded.

* Bhikajirao became very famous in the battle of Badami fort in Karnataka in May, 1786 when his bravery enabled the Peshwa's army to snatch the fort from the control of Tipu Sutan. His brother Viharji was killed in that battle. Later he also fought in the famous battle of Kharda against the Nizam. Bhikajirao's sons meanwhile had joined the great Maratha commander Mahadji Shinde as his captains and fought many battles under him including the famous battles of Tunga, Medta and Patan. They finally settled down in Gwalior during the reign of his adopted son Daulatrao Scindia. Bhikajirao's grandson Sardar Jagdeorao Babasaheb became the Senapati of Gwalior State.

* After independence our family moved to Gujarat as my father's maternal grandfather was at a high position in Baroda his brother General Nanasaheb Shinde being Commander in Chief of Baroda State forces under the legendary administrator and reformer Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad of Baroda State. General Shinde was honoured by the Maharaja with the title of ' Rajratna '. After graduation I became a journalist and moved to Ahmedabad. In 2015 December I moved to Delhi at India Today with the responsibility of covering BJP , Ministries and RSS. So now I am based in Delhi as well as Ahmedabad.

Pay my tributes to 2nd Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak PP Shri Guru Golwalkar on his Jayanti. He preserved to protect moral & cultural values of Bharat. With falling moral & public values due to distorted AV content & other factors, Guruji’s relevance for Bharat is more than before.

On this occasion i urge the Govt of PM Narendra Modi & RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat to totally stop perverted AV content, the main cause of r**e cases in the country, by enacting a strong law. It has now become a child & women safety issue.

Bharat has taken many successful vows in past 12 years. Let it take one more vow that it will become the world’s first perverted AV content-free nation.

With AI & a strong law punishing purveyors of such evil content , this can be easily achieved if we have the moral courage, conviction & true Nation First approach.

When small, my father would tell me that Cong & the nation had done great injustice to Veer Savarkar. Over 4 decades later i was privileged to receive Swantantraveer Savarkar Memorial Award from Swatantraveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak for my contribution to promoting his Nation First ideology.

I received the award at a simple but Sattvik function in Pune in keeping with the great leader’s dignity before an enthusiastic audience of patriots, who were present in large numbers.

Addressing the gathering, I said history has a unique way of assessing things. In 1966 Savarkar died on the sidelines when Pandit Nehru was the national hero. But today the once unsung hero is in the mainstream & Nehru is on the sidelines as the nation discovers his blunders.

I said i have tried to follow Savarkar’s true Nation First ideology as far as possible in kalyug , never hesitating to speak the truth when it came to national interest.

I further underlined that through our book ‘ Veer Savarkar The Man who could have prevented Partition’, myself & my co-author Chirayu Pandit had proved that if Gandhiji is the father of the nation, Veer Savarkar should be regarded as the father of Bharat’s national security as he had predicted all of India’s problems on national security, from China & Assam to Pakistan & our internal problems.

I underlined that it was Savarkar’s true Nation First ideology that inspired me to take on the purveyors of perverted content/po*******hy on AV platforms , who were the main cause of more & more horrendous r**e cases in the country.

I added that this award had a special place for me as it was being bestowed by an institution closely connected with Veer Savarkar’s family. I received the award from Smarak’s President Shri Arun Joshi & Working President Shri Ranjit Savarkar.

Exactly a decade ago, I accompanied Union Home Minister & the then BJP President Amit Shah to Veer Savarkar’s cell in Cellular jail in Port Blair, along with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP Organisation Secretary BL Santhosh, his predecessor Ram Lal ji & BJP General secretary Tarun Chugh .

This visit was on Savarkar Jayanti on May 28, 2016. Much water has in passed in 10 years. Had Savarkar been alive he would have himself patted the Home Minister on his back today for the remarkable job he has done in service of Maa Bharati, particularly destroying the Moist menace.

Authors like me, my co-author Chirayu Pandit , historian Vikram Sampath & others have demystified Savarkar for the patriotic common masses in the face of the onslaught of Leftists, Pan-Islamists & Muslim appeasing parties like the Cong.

Time has an unfailing trait. On its canvas, those who look like superhumans often lose their shine with the tide of time, as their true contribution to the nation—shaped by both blunders and successes—comes to light.

Inversely, many who have looked like miniatures for several decades appear like superhumans today with the passage of time. Pandit Nehru, despite his great work in institution building, belongs to the first category, and Veer Savarkar, with his untiring efforts to prevent India’s partition and unparalleled national security vision belongs to the second one.

Once again pay tribute to Savarkar on his 143rd Jayanti.

Pay tributes to Veer Savarkar on his Jayanti. He preached & followed Hindutva nationalism. 'Varam janahitam dhyeyam kevalaa na janastutihi as unalloyed (Not praise of people, public welfare alone!)' was the mantra of Savarkar's life, even as a teenager. This has a message for today’s politics of populism.

He started the Abhinav Bharat Society to overthrow British rule at a time when British Raj was considered a boon. He established the Patit Pavan Mandir, a temple open to all, when orthodox Hindus opposed temple entry of the so-called lower castes.

In the times of appeasement under the name of Hindu-Muslim unity, he stood for equal rights for all. Though dubbed as communalist, he did not stop fighting for Akhand Bharat.

In the era of Panchsheel and non-violence as foreign & security policy of India, he advocated militarisation of the youth and upgradation of the armed forces.

He predicted partition 10 years before it happened in 1947 as he knew that it will be the end result of Congress politics of Hindu-Muslim unity at any cost & complete non-violence , which he rightly thought, would be exploited by Muslim League.

He did one of the biggest works of Bhasha Shudddi in modern India . How many people know that he coined now know words like Doordarshan for TV , Mahapaur for mayor , Parshad for municipal councillor, ‘Amar Rahen’ for ‘Zindabad ‘ etc.

He predicted the 1962 Indo China war 8 years before it happened when he saw that Pandit Nehru’s weak strategy with China would whet China’s appetite for swallowing India’s land.

It was pleasure delivering a speech to a select audience under aegis of Seva Prabodhini in Pune on how sexually perverted AV content was destroying Bharat’s culture & character

Giving examples of r**e cases provoked by perverted content, i said this was the biggest threat to the nation about which few are talking.

I said India can’t become a great nation without banning such evil content. Citing the curbing of such content in Gulf nations & countries like Singapore, i said if there was a will, there was always a way.

I said it was possible to use AI to ban such content & added that for deterrence, the jail term in Indecent Representation of Women ( Prohibition ) Act could be increased to 10 years with the provision of no bail for 3 years.

I said the nation has to ponder whether it will become a culturally pauper nation while becoming a SuperPower. The time come has for Bharat to take a vow that it will become the world’s first perverted content free nation, i added.

The subject on which I spoke was ‘ Sanskriti Bachegi To Desh Bachega ( Nation Will Survive only If Culture Will Survive) .

Thankful to Dr Dhananjay Shirodkar, former President of Seva Prabodhini, Pune, & Dr Milind Jagtap, current President of the organisation , for inviting me to share my views on a what is a growing national crisis.

The national media needs to adopt a truly nation first approach to be truthful & meet the expectations of the people, rather than getting carried away by ongoing narrative wars.

I said this while delivering the keynote address at the inaugural session of a seminar organised in Bhopal by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism & Communication & Veer Bharat Nyas to mark the 200 years of the first ever Hindi news paper ‘Udant Martand, which was published from Kolkatta in 1826.

I said till independence journalism was driven by missionary zeal in benefit of the society & for seeking Bharat’s independence from foreign rule. Some years after independence came the era of professional journalism which paved way for organised journalism . It too largely followed the path of ethical journalism, I underlined.

Then came the era of corporate journalism & electronic journalism in which, i said, emphasis on ethical journalism is less pronounced with corporate & political interests taking hold.

Amongst the audience were a large number of students of MCU studying journalism. I implored them to follow the path of true Nation First in order to guard media’s reputation as the fourth pillar of democracy adding the nation was supreme & no individual could be placed above the nation.

Giving example as to how today’s
media had failed to do its duty in some glaring cases, I said my campaign to stop po*******hy/ obscene content, which has emerged as the main cause of r**e cases in the country, had few takers in the mainstream media in what is the biggest threat to Bharat’s culture & character.

I said the Bollywood-centric eco-system that is behind the spread of obscenity through AV mediums, has close links with media entities based on ad revenue interests & this was the main reason why large parts of Indian media were silent about purveyors of perverted content.

I said the biggest example of this was Ekta Kapoor who, despite having produced the most perverted films based on incest-based relationships through her now banned OTT platform , had not been exposed by mainstream media. Rather she has the protection of mainstream media, i said.

The function was presided by gifted cultural & religious discourse-giver, Acharya Mithileshnandinisharan of Hanuman Niwas, Ayodhaya. MCU VC Shri Vijay Manohar Tiwari, & Shri Shriram Tiwari, noted cultural expert , writer & Cultural Advisor to Hon. MP CM Dr Mohan Yadav, were also present on the occasion along with Dr Mukesh Mishra, director, Dattopant Thengadi Shodh Sansthan, Bhopal.

Shri Shriram Tiwari is also the secretary of Veer Bharat Nyas.

Enunciated the fundamentals of the Modi model & how bharat had benefitted from them & how PM Narendra Modi should be regarded as the father of a dozen governance revolutions including 24x7 domestic power, solar energy, digital revolution apart from revolutions in Defence , Aviation & foreign policy sectors.

Was delivering Atal Memorial Lecture at the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration ( SPIPA) in Ahmedabad. Spipa is Gujarat Govt’s training institute for State service officials as LBSNAA is for civil service officials at the Centre.

I underlined how the fundamentals of PM’s core governance rest on principles like Delivery of schemes, use of technology for delivery as well as curbing corruption, poverty-alleviation, innovation, advance planning & linking people’s combined pride with the developmental journey of the nation.

I said due to tight & efficient governance the delivery rate of schemes had increased to over 80% & in some schemes like PM Awas Yojana to 90% . I said the delivery rate was below or around 50% at the time of UPA Govt.

I said the nation was saving around Rs 3 to 4 lakh crores every year as a result of PM’s visionary governance plugging the holes in the system by using technology.

I underlined that Bharat would have been in an unbelievably worse condition today in every way including in economy & national security had Modi Govt not come to power in 2014.

I said removal of Article 370 from Kashmir , smashing naxalite move & bringing it on its last legs & facilitating construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhaya were matchless achievements for the nation.

Pay my tribute to the symbol of Bharatiya honour, Maharana Pratap, & quote historians James Tod & Ishwari Prasad :

‘The many Mughal & Rajput generals who fought against Pratap are mere phantoms across pages of history while Pratap lives a charmed life. Even after 400 years in thousands of villages Mother’s pray to God to give them a son like Pratap’

Another inspiring line on Pratap is :

‘ The only fault of Pratap ( while opposing Akbar) was that he was proud of his motherland & culture. He deeply felt the woes of his motherland & his people. Therefore in a saga that has no other parallel, he decided to take on Akbar.

In other words he decided to make his mother’s milk resplendent’.

These words have immortalised Maharana Pratap.
