Sadly, hiking within Israel is still dangerous and walking across Syria is not to be even considered. However, if you are following the Templar Trail, there are still nine countries that are more welcoming: France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Cyprus. The stages are posted on this page.

Your daily moment of quietude: While hiking the Templar Trail thru Turkey, I discovered this solemn monument to famous Turks in a village. I paused to take a photo. Suddenly, out of nowhere, this boy appeared and, to my surprise, he posed striking a double salute. It totally made my day!

Your daily moment of quietude: A highlight of my walk on the Templar Trail was finally arriving in Jerusalem after a five month sojourn on foot from France. In light of the season, here are a few photos not included and text from my book about my arrival at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Peace be with us all.
