An Garda Síochána has commenced a murder investigation into the arson attack and fatal house fire that occurred at a domestic residence in Birch Avenue, Birchwood, Waterford City, this morning Tuesday, 13th October 2026.

We are appealing to any person who has information on this multiple murder and arson attack to speak with investigating members.

Gardaí wish to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Birch Avenue, Birchwood, between 4.30am and 5.30am this morning. We also appeal to anyone who was driving in the vicinity who may have dashcam footage or images to make such footage available to investigating Gardaí.

E-bike/scrambler seized at Clonard Park on 19th September.
A youth was observed driving vehicle at high speed in residential area where children were playing.
Driver had no helmet on and on inspection the bike was capable of doing speed up to 75km/hr.

Vehicle seized under section109 RTA.

As a result of an intelligence led operation in Dungarvan Town Centre on the 5.9.2026, a group of youths were identified and one youth was arrested for Firework Offences. A small quantity of fireworks were seized under Operation Tombola. The youth will be dealt with under the Garda Youth Diversion Scheme. The public are thanked for their assistance in this operation.
