‼️⚠️ Obair ag toiseacht. Delighted and relieved to have finally secured a new safety scheme for Treehoo Cross, Cnoc Rua / Redhills.

Treehoo Cross is a pure danger from every direction and this work is a long time wanting.

The scheme represents significant investment by Cavan County Council into making the junction safer, as well as rebuilding the broken stone walls at the bridge, and includes…

✅ hedge removal on Ballyhaise-Clones road
✅ improved visibility on approach
✅ high friction road surface
✅ additional warning road markings
✅ new stop & go-slow signs
✅ road widening
✅ setting back of roadside poles and fences

GRMA to the local municipal office in Cootehill for funding this much-needed project.

🚦Work has commenced today. Traffic management will be in place for the duration. Expect delays and please approach with care

*Update* Speed issues in Redhills village...

I have this on the agenda for discussion at the next Municipal District meeting. In the meantime, I have requested that Cavan County Council carry out a speed survey to assess the problem.

What I would like to see is some road markings and slow-down signs in the village, as well as at the 3 approach roads and junctions.

I have been fighting for improved roads in and around Redhills village since being elected. My fear is that pushing for speed ramps will end up putting necessary road improvements onto the long finger.

We need a major investment strategy into the village as a whole, between roads, footpaths and community amenities.

🍻Nuair a bhíonn an beoir istigh… Best of luck to Derek and Bréifne Gael Brewing, a new microbrewery in Cavan producing Ór Dubh (stout), Rua (red ale), Mo Chroí (larger) and Leann Éadrom (pale ale).

On sale now at the Stray Sod, Drung!

Lovely touch having the Irish Language front and centre in the packaging and marketing 👏

✊ Comhghairdeas lenár gcomharsana Cheilteacha. Cymru & Alba abú 🇮🇪🤝🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Seismic election results across the water, as nationalist parties in Wales and Scotland sweep the board and neo-liberal parties are almost wiped out.

Tá ár lá ag teacht! The “Union” is disintegrating.

These results have left the prospect of Irish Unity more achievable and foreseeable than ever before. The Irish govt MUST now begin plans and preparations for a border poll.

We know that the tories in Fine Gael do not want a United Ireland. But any republicans left in the ranks of Fianna Fáil should remember their roots.

If they have any sway at all in this coalition government, FF elected reps and their remaining supporters need to insist that Irish Unity become a priority for the Irish govt.
