πŸ”Ž Non-Domestic Gas Works (NDGW): Your Questions Answered!

The requirements for regulated Non-Domestic Gas Works are now in effect, but do you know what they mean for you?

Whether you're a Registered Gas Installer (RGI), business owner or industry professional, here are some important things to know.

πŸ”§ Who can carry out regulated Non-Domestic Gas Works?
An appropriately registered RGI for the relevant category of work.

πŸ“‹ Do existing RGIs need to update their registration?
If you intend to carry out Non-Domestic Gas Works, you must notify the RGI Scheme of the relevant categories before undertaking that work.

πŸ“„ Are there different certificates for Non-Domestic Gas Works?
Yes. Non-Domestic Declarations of Conformance include Certificates A, B, C and D, depending on the work undertaken.

πŸ’» Can Non-Domestic certificates be completed online?
Yes! Non-Domestic certification is supported through the Electronic Certification System (ECS).

🏒 How can businesses find the right installer?
Use the Find an RGI facility to check that an installer is registered for the relevant category of work.

πŸ“’ RGIs – Are your Notified Categories up to date?

With the Non-Domestic Gas Works requirements now in effect, it’s important that your Notified Categories accurately reflect the work you are competent to carry out and actually undertake.

Your notified categories are a declaration of your competency – so only select the categories that genuinely apply to the work you carry out.

Why does it matter?

πŸ”§ For RGIs: It ensures your registration accurately represents your areas of competency and the work you undertake.

🏒 For customers: It helps businesses find an appropriately registered RGI for the specific Non-Domestic Gas Works they need.

πŸ”Ž Customers can now use Find an RGI to search by work category, making the accuracy of your notified categories even more important.

Only notify what you are competent to work on.
It’s better for you, better for your customers, and supports safer Non-Domestic Gas Works.

That’s a wrap on three fantastic days at the National Ploughing Championships! πŸ”₯🚜

A huge thank you to our RGI Scheme team for their hard work, enthusiasm and professionalism throughout one of Ireland’s biggest events.

Over the three days, we met members of the public and Registered Gas Installers from across the country. We had important conversations about gas safety on farms, in homes, commercial premises and other working environments, as well as the importance of proper certification and always using a Registered Gas Installer.

It was also a valuable opportunity to discuss the Electronic Certification System and Non-Domestic Gas Works. We were delighted to meet RGIs who are already using ECS and seeing how the system can help them manage their certification activities more efficiently. Our team was also on hand to provide practical support and answer questions from installers getting started with the system. πŸ’»βœ…

The Ploughing Championships provides an invaluable opportunity to listen, share trusted safety information and connect directly with the communities and professionals we support.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, spoke with the team and tested their reactions in our game. We are delighted to have been part of such a significant event! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

We were delighted to welcome Fergal Mulligan, Chairperson and Commissioner of the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), and Karen O’Hanlon, Managing Director of SGS Ireland, to the RGI Scheme stand at the National Ploughing Championships yesterday.

Their visit provided an opportunity to meet the RGI Scheme team, engage with members of the public and Registered Gas Installers and hear directly about the experiences of those working with the new Electronic Certification System (ECS).

We also discussed the important work being carried out to support gas safety, the gas certification process and the requirements relating to regulated Non-Domestic Gas Works.

Whether gas work is being carried out in your home or business, the central safety message remains the same: always use a Registered Gas Installer and ask for the appropriate Declaration of Conformance when the work is complete.

Thank you to Fergal and Karen for visiting our stand and for taking the time to speak with our team, installers and members of the public.
