Sinn Féin stands full square behind the public sector workers taking strike action tomorrow.

These workers deliver the services we all depend on. They deserve fair pay, respect and a government that listens.

Today, Mary Lou McDonald challenged the Taoiseach directly at Leaders’ Questions.

The government must urgently engage with the unions, put pay at the centre of negotiations and secure a fair deal.

In solidarity with the striking workers, our Sinn Féin Dáil team will not enter the premises tomorrow.

The offices of Laois County Council, including public buildings such as libraries and Kyletalesha Landfill, will be closed to the public on Wednesday 14th October 2026 due to industrial action.

Please be advised that access to Council offices and services will be disrupted on this date.

In the event of an emergency, please contact the emergency services at 999 or 112.

Laois County Council also has a non-fire emergency call answering service in place, which can be accessed by calling 021 4217694.

All offices and facilities will reopen and resume normal services on Thursday, 15th October 2026.
