First Friday of the month means one thing… MD meeting day! I’m over in Naas this morning with a full agenda from footpaths and Back Lane, to project updates and an SEAI retrofit briefing. Here’s what I’m raising today

⚠️ This is currently a Notice of Intention, which means members of the public can make an objection or observation before a final decision is made.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm, Monday 7th September 2026 through Kildare County Council’s consultation portal or in writing to the Council.

One to be aware of now, particularly if you regularly use the Celbridge Road at weekends. I’ll keep you updated on the outcome.

MILL STREET WORKS : QUICK UPDATE

I was contacted today by a few people asking about the diversion signs that had suddenly appeared around Maynooth, so I went for a spin around town to see what was happening.

I contacted the Area Engineer and he has confirmed that the planned snagging works for the Mill Street upgrade have been brought forward to tonight and tomorrow night.

There will be temporary road closures and diversions in place while the works are carried out. I’ve attached the diversion map so you can see the routes.

Apologies that I couldn’t give you more notice I only became aware of the change myself now after the signs started appearing.

Hopefully this saves a few people from getting caught out!

Please share with anyone who might be travelling through Maynooth tonight or tomorrow night.

Back to school safety at the MEC

Great to see the new Safe Routes to School bollards in place ahead of the kids returning this week.

The bollards around the roundabout are there for an important reason to stop cars parking there at school times and keep the area safer and clearer for our children. 🚸

The flashing beacons aren’t operational just yet, and Stepping Stones and Gaelcholáiste Mhaigh Nuad are next for bollards once new stock arrives.

A really positive step towards making the MEC safer for everyone.
