Hiya all....so I'm just letting you know we have a demonstration happening this Sunday October 4th which is World Animal Day....we're going to be basing ourselves outside the Disney Store on Grafton St and try and encourage as many people as possible to sign our petition to BAN ANIMAL LAB TESTING....it will be from 1pm to 3pm this Sunday so please please please come along and help get our petition signed.

Animal Lab Testing is the most wicked of animal abuses with millions of animals being subjected to the most evil testing you could possibly imagine, such as w**d killer being pumped into a beagle dogs stomach, just to help find an ointment to heal the acid burn....all for fu*kin money! Shame on them!

🐾🚨 Greyhound Doping Case Raises Serious Questions 🚨🐾

Limerick PAW, the Limerick City and County branch of the Party for Animal Welfare (PAW), has taken part in numerous protests outside Limerick Greyhound Stadium, highlighting ongoing welfare concerns within the greyhound racing industry.

The latest Greyhound Racing Control Committee report (April 2026) reveals that greyhound Collakilla Bee tested positive for the prohibited substance Clenbuterol following a race at Limerick Stadium on 26 July 2025. The dog finished third and received €55 in prize money.

During a committee hearing, owner Maurice Fitzgerald, of Killacolla House, Glin, Co. Limerick, suggested the positive result may have been linked to meat he fed his greyhounds after being unable to obtain his usual supply. He stated that he accepted a couple of boxes of alternative meat and believed this could have caused the adverse test result.

Despite the positive test, the Greyhound Racing Control Committee imposed a sanction of just €250, along with €250 in costs payable to Rásaíocht Con Éireann.

Since the positive test on 26 July 2025, Collakilla Bee has raced six more times, with her last recorded race taking place at Tralee on 6 December 2025, where she finished last.

According to Greyhound Racing Ireland records, Maurice Fitzgerald has had 27 recorded race entries.

is just one of a growing number of greyhounds testing positive for prohibited substances at tracks across Ireland. 🐕💔

How many more cases will emerge before meaningful action is taken to protect these dogs?

Animal cruelty should never be ignored!!!

🚨 ANIMAL CRUELTY SHOULD NEVER BE IGNORED 🚨

A shocking story has emerged from , where has been suspended for one month following a social media post in which she raised concerns about an animal cruelty case linked to disturbing dog fighting footage that caused widespread public outrage. 🐕💔

https://www.irishnews.com/news/northern-ireland/derry-councillor-suspended-after-speaking-out-over-animal-cruelty-video-5S4NI3YGHVHCZKG6HFZPP2ZXCM/

While the official ruling states the suspension related to confidentiality concerns and information included in the post, many people are asking an important question:

❓ Are those who speak out against animal cruelty being punished more harshly than those responsible for the cruelty itself?

Animal abuse, dog fighting, blood sports and neglect continue to devastate countless animals across Ireland every year. The public is increasingly demanding stronger protections, tougher penalties and political representatives who are willing to stand up for animals that cannot speak for themselves. 🐾

Regardless of political views, one thing should unite us all: cruelty to animals has no place in a compassionate society. ❤️

This is exactly why we believe it is time for Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) to be registered as a political party in Northern Ireland as well. Animals need a voice in every council chamber, every assembly and every level of government. 🗳️🐶🐱🐰

If you believe animals deserve stronger legal protection, better welfare standards and real political representation, please consider joining and supporting the movement.

Together, we can help build a future where animal welfare is treated as a priority, not an afterthought. 🐾💚

What do you think? Should politicians be encouraged to speak out more strongly against animal cruelty? Let us know in the comments. ⬇️

🚨🐎 Time for real action on animal welfare in Ireland

Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) has repeatedly called for the creation of a dedicated Garda Animal Crime Unit — and the need has never been clearer.

This unit should be part of an interdisciplinary taskforce, working alongside Revenue & Customs and animal welfare organisations like My Lovely Horse Rescue to properly tackle organised animal cruelty. 🤝

📍Across Limerick and beyond, illegal “sulky racing” — lightweight carts pulled by horses at dangerous speeds on public roads — continues to put animals and people at risk.

🎥 Footage circulating for years shows horses forced to race through traffic, often in chaotic and unsafe conditions. This is not sport — it’s exploitation.

Recently, in the Seanad Éireann, Senator Fiona O'Loughlin condemned the practice as “absolute cruelty of the highest order.”

Animal welfare groups warn that without a specialised Garda unit, laws like the Animal Health and Welfare Act are difficult to enforce effectively. A dedicated unit could:
✔️ Crack down on organised illegal racing
✔️ Seize and protect abused animals 🐴
✔️ Ensure proper prosecutions
✔️ Improve public safety 🚗

PAW believes it’s time to go further:
❌ An outright ban on sulky racing on all roads is needed.

Communities deserve safer streets. Animals deserve protection, not suffering. 💔

📢 The calls are growing louder — now action must follow.

Ultimately we need a total and any sulkies horses raced on (public) roads need to be confiscated and surrended to Limerick Animal Welfare and My Lovely Horse Rescue.

🚨 Animal Welfare Must Come First 🐴💔

The Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) continues to call for action to , but sadly these urgent appeals are still being ignored by many politicians. Meanwhile, the situation on the ground keeps getting worse.

Sulky racing often operates like the wild west, taking advantage of the lack of proper legislation and enforcement. Without clear rules and accountability, horses are left vulnerable. No so-called tradition should ever come before animal welfare. It’s time for real change — and that change should be a full ban.

📢 Outcry is growing in Limerick as rescuers face daily calls about that are , neglected, and .

According to recent reports, Limerick Animal Welfare is now nearing capacity as volunteers struggle to respond to a surge in emergency cases involving abandoned or severely neglected horses.

One volunteer described the situation as “unbearable.” Horses are being found in fields without adequate grazing, left hungry, weak, and suffering.

A member of warned:

“The care of horses continues to deteriorate in and .”

These volunteers are doing everything they can, but rescue groups cannot carry this burden alone. Animals deserve protection through strong laws, proper enforcement, and real political will.

🐎 Every horse deserves safety, food, care, and dignity.
💔 Neglect and suffering should never be accepted as normal.

It’s time to listen to the voices speaking up for animals and finally put welfare before outdated practices.

PUBLIC STATEMENT: End Ireland’s

The Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) has been continuously campaigning against the of — an industry driven by greed, suffering, and exploitation.

Every , countless puppies are sold with no home checks, no proper vaccinations, and often from conditions no animal should ever have to endure. Weeks later, when the novelty wears off, many of these dogs are abandoned, tied to trees, or left to fend for themselves. This is the heartbreaking cycle we witness every single year.

The Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) welcomes the proposed Bill on stricter rules on introduced by the . However, even if adopted in principle in , the biggest challenge will remain . Without robust monitoring, inspections, penalties, and resources, illegal breeders will continue to operate unchecked — and animals will continue to suffer.

Ireland has long been known as the “puppy farm capital of Europe”, with dogs exported to illegal markets and breeding females pushed far beyond humane limits. Shelters such as and many others across the country are now overfull, struggling to cope with the never-ending intake of unwanted and mistreated dogs.

Stronger laws are essential — but laws alone won’t end puppy farming. We must also address the demand that fuels this cruelty.

✔️ Don’t buy puppies from breeders.
✔️ Don’t support an industry built on exploitation.
✔️ Adopt, don’t shop — choose .
