For something a bit different and thought provoking head to Newtownmountkennedy this Sunday 16th Aug 2.30 for this Heritage Week event consisting of a community discussion/workshop followed by a historical talk.

The workshop will be a relaxed, friendly space for an open discussion on the concept of heritage. Guided by the official National Heritage Week theme of 'Heritage at Risk', it will explore what is being lost over time and how we can come together in protecting the landmarks, traditions, and ecosystems we value most. Whether you have lived locally for decades or are new to the town, or whether you come from further afield, you are all invited to explore these important themes and questions together.

The group conversation will be followed by a talk by local author and historian Therese Hicks. Therese will deliver a fascinating talk based on her highly regarded book, No Mere Irish: The Kennedys of Mount Kennedy.

🍎🍐Tidy Towns Fruit Tree Volunteer Morning.

This Saturday 1st August, meet at 10am at the green at back of Season Park, then moving out around the town.

Our fruit trees around the town have been loving the sunshine! Lots of them are covered in ripening fruit.

They could do with some care to help them through the dry weather though so some of us will be meeting this Saturday morning to add fertiliser and mulch. There's over 150 across the whole town so plenty do to and great fun for all ages! All welcome.
