As National Ambulance Service staff return to normal duties following our 24-hour industrial action, we want to sincerely thank the public for your patience, understanding, and support throughout.

This action was not taken lightly. Staff much happier on the frontline responing to emergency calls have been placed in this undignified position to have our voices heard. Our goal remains to secure fair recognition for the past work already undertaken in modernisation of the service, increased clinical responsibility that comes with that, and to continue to progress the service going forward to provide be right care to the right patient at the right time, remaining very much patient focused.

We are proud to continue serving our town and communities and appreciate the solidarity shown during this time.

Notable mentions must go to Kilmartins N6 service station, CrossFit Croí, Trevor Lee from MyMilkMan.ie, the ladies from The Tuesday Club in Moate, Michelle Baker and Eileen Flaherty among other members of the public who stopped by and gave token gestures, relay their gratitude and show their unwavering support. Councillors John Dolan and Paul Hogan who pocketed with us on the day and patient advocate Maeve Kelly, Siptu hon secretary Annette Donnellan, and the Westmeath Independent.

Staff in Athlone on the picket line today, it’s regrettable it has come to this and we wish for a speedy resolution. We urge the public to raise this issue with local councillors, TD’s and senators to prevent it for escalating further. Again we would like to thank the public for their support.
