The final online exhibition "Life of Fusion behind the Vermilion Walls" under "Traversing the Forbidden City" series, presented by the Art Promotion Office and the Department of Fine Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, focuses mainly on the Forbidden City’s fusion with Western culture through various treasured items. What kind of influence did the new technology, ideas, culture and customs from the West, bring to the imperial court? When the Qing emperors were keenly interested in knowing more about Western culture, yet on the other, how did they also attach great importance to the traditional Han culture?
