Vuelta Grande is a developing community located in the mountains around Antigua and surrounded by astounding nature. The village struggles to survive due to scarce economic resources: most families have between nine and twelve children and live on less than $4 (Q32) a day. Agriculture, especially the cultivation of flowers, is one of the major sources of income of the 1,300 inhabitants. Vuelta Gra
nde lacks access to quality health care and education. Only 30% of its population completed primary education. Since 2008, La Unión Spanish School and the Young Dreamer Network have been investing in the sustainable, community-driven development of Vuelta Grande. Our three initiatives give you the chance of being part of this ambitious project. Its main objectives are:
• Generating jobs and income
• Improving the quality of education of the recently built local school
• Putting together a computer lab for the pupils
• Creating opportunities for intercultural exchange
