Last Friday, October 17, 2025, the Greek Ministry of Culture presented its project "Tatoi Collections: Unlocking the Material Culture and History of a Century" at the amphitheater of Benaki Museum in Athens. The project aims to document, record and digitize the movable monuments of the former royal estate of Tatoi.

Among the ca. 70,000 objects that were documented and are presented on the online portal, it is with surprise that one finds many personal objects of boy scout interest of the former King and Chief Scout of Greece, Patron of the 11th World Scout Jamboree, Constantine II, such as his full boy scout uniform, his Silver Phoenix Scout Medal (highest medal of the Scouts of Greece) and many scouting memorabilia.

The collection is endless, enjoy browsing.

Grief, Glory, Honor, Triumph: An Exceptional Leader in Athens, 1964

Read the story of the visit in Athens, of the then Vice President of the Boy Scouts of The Philippines, Antonio C. Delgado, an industrialist, civic leader and diplomat, later Chairman of the World Scout Committee, who became a symbol of father's faith by keeping the memory of his son Jose Antonio and his fellow scouts, who tragically perished in the plane crash en route to Marathon, alive to this date through the Ala-Ala Foundation.

In December 2024, the magazine of The Italian Scout Collectors Association, "il Pellicano pataccaro" published a cover story on the shield badges of the 11th World Scout Jamboree, which were the first ever jamboree badges to be constructed of metal (as opposed to the fabric badges of the first 10 world scout jamborees).

In 6 pages, author Giacomo Marini presents the results of his research mainly on the variants of the badges (bronze, silver and the exquisite gold one) but also on other items of collector interest such as the Laurel Award and the "holy grail" of Marathon Jamboree memorabilia, the tabletop gate statuette.

The article merges all current knowledge on the topic, from the most important collectors and connoisseurs, and undoubtedly represents the definitive guide to Marathon shield badges. A truly magnificently piece of work.

marathon1963.com is proud to have assisted Giacomo's research with information and photos which appear in the article. We thank him for his kindness to send us a hard copy of the very elegant and luxuriously printed magazine.
