The absolute truth.

GAMBIA,

In 10 years, we still don’t have consistent electricity.

Fuel prices keep going up, and we are told to blame international factors.

Our marine resources are no longer accessible to the average Gambian.

Workers at our seaport continue to protest over poor working conditions.

Our women and children no longer feel safe in our streets and even in their homes as crime continues to be a growing concern.

Food and essential commodities have become too expensive for ordinary families because of persistent inflation.

Our medical facilities remain poorly equipped, and people continue to suffer, and in some cases die, from conditions that should be treatable.

Our young people are turning to drugs and crime because of hopelessness, unemployment, and a lack of meaningful opportunities.

Our youths continue to risk, and lose, their lives in the high seas in search of a better future.

Our farmers are struggling, crying out over the high cost of fertilizers, inadequate support, and the absence of meaningful subsidies.

So, Gambian, what exactly is working?

After ten years, what has fundamentally improved the lives of ordinary Gambians?

And more importantly, how much longer are we prepared to accept excuses when our families are the ones paying the price?

December 5th gives every Gambian an opportunity to answer that question with their vote.

Elections are not simply about changing the people sitting in government. They are about deciding what kind of country we want to live in and what kind of future we want to leave for our children.

If Barrow is failing you, and Barrow is indeed failing you, you have the power to change it.

If you want reliable electricity, affordable food, quality healthcare, decent jobs, safer communities, productive agriculture, protected natural resources, and a government that puts Gambia First, then December 5th is your opportunity to demand better.

Don’t vote out of fear. Don’t vote out of habit. Don’t vote because of empty promises. Vote for the future you want.

Ten years is long enough. The Gambia deserves better.

December 5th, your vote can be the beginning of that change.

The Barrow government cannot give you an uninterrupted electricity service for ten years, our hospitals become a death trap, our schools are poorly managed and its staff unfairly paid, hard drugs are everywhere, cost of living unbearable yet Gambians go harder on the UDP and Lawyer Ousainu Darboe than Barrow and his government. That's neither honesty nor accountability. It is only a way to excuse Barrow's failures either because their families were affected by the the party and its leader holding them accountable for their failures or their families are benefiting directly from this corrupt regime.

That's the interest. We should all fight against that. They're not doing it for you or me. They're doing it for family and themselves. Let's stand together to end this government.

Sheikh Ahmed Ceesay hits the nail on the head on Gambian politics.

They say for 30 years the UDP didn't win a single presidential election. Tell them at least the party has remained standing. It did not fall. None of these newcomers stand on the moral high grounds to judge the UDP.
How can anyone in a country where politicians are more serious when elections are years away to win public trust only to trade that little fame for positions and cash once the election year arrives by joining forces with the very institution they accused of corruption and maladministration? The UDP has been trying and for that, they deserve only commendation from all opposition parties.

UPDATE ON THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY AWARDS DAY

The United Democratic Party (UDP) wishes to inform its members, supporters, and the general public that the 30th Anniversary Awards Day, which was previously cancelled following the demise of our dedicated supporter, the late Modou Lamin Dampha, has now been rescheduled to Monday, 7 September 2026, at 3:00 PM.
The event will be held at the Manjai Bureau.

The Party appreciates the understanding, patience, and support of its members and sympathisers during this period of mourning. We look forward to coming together on Monday to commemorate the Party’s 30th Anniversary and honour individuals who have made significant contributions to the UDP.

We encourage all members, supporters, and invited guests to attend and make the occasion a memorable one.

A government that cannot take care of your electricity for ten years, doesn't deserve another term.

07/09/2026

The United Democratic party should be more active on the ground than allowing to be distracted by other opposition parties. Barrow is the focus. Redirect the energy. Winning online battles and settling personal scores isn't the vision.
