The Honourable Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services today welcomed a delegation from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to discuss opportunities for strategic collaboration.

The meeting followed NHIA’s submission of a letter of collaboration and focused on how the Ministry’s extensive media and communication platforms can support NHIA in expanding public outreach and increasing awareness of health insurance across The Gambia.

The Minister expressed strong support for the initiative and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to using effective public communication to ensure that Gambians have access to clear and reliable information on national programmes and services.

The proposed collaboration will strengthen public engagement on the National Health Insurance Scheme and help make information about health insurance more accessible to communities across the country.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports today held a press conference at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo.

The Minister, Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, addressed members of the press on key developments concerning the Independence Stadium and preparations for the upcoming international football match.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Ministry to respond to questions from the media and provide updates on ongoing work at the stadium and preparations for the upcoming fixture.

President Barrow Urges New ECOWAS Commission President to Uphold Democracy and Regional Integration

H.E. President Adama Barrow today received General Birame Diop, the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, at State House in Banjul.

General Diop, who is in The Gambia for the inaugural annual conference of the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority, commended President Barrow for his continued support to Senegal and the wider ECOWAS community.

Discussions centred on regional security and stability, trade, energy, good governance, and sustainable inclusive development.

President Barrow advised the new Commission President to uphold diplomacy and effective communication with Heads of State to safeguard democracy, assuring him of The Gambia Government's full support.

“It is historic that The Gambia held the Presidency of ECOWAS and handed it over to Senegal in the fifty years of ECOWAS’ existence,” President Barrow noted.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS 2027/2028

Study in the United Kingdom

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) invites eligible Gambian applicants to apply for Commonwealth Scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year.

Available Scholarships:

* Master’s: 7 nominations
* PhD: 11 nominations

Application Deadline: 20 October 2026 at 16:00 GMT.

Nomination does not guarantee selection or placement. Final selection will be made by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
